This is not exactly a protest against anything or anyone, but it does seem to me that posting on Facebook has become problematic in so many ways. In the first place, opening FB means reading some of the content and getting ticked off over at least a part of it. Sorry, that just seems to be embedded in my personality! But realizing that most of you would not be able to find this blogger location, maybe things will be posted in both areas for the time being. Already copied and pasted the last blog post from Mesquite Country from 2018. Strange how those days were so hard and still make me cringe.
Had a sweet visit with Michelle Malay and Landen (Joe's nephew) today. Think Landen is leaving for California in the morning, so it will just be Joe, Michelle, and the six dogs until Tim comes back from New York. Guess that will be just a bit quiet around their house for a while. Michelle brought two huge tennis balls that have already been punctured by Sylvia canines! That dog! She starts by peeling the fur off and then finds the best place to punch a tooth through! Anyway, both have now been dogified!
Connie Cooke came this afternoon and just left a few minutes ago. We hashed over some 20 years of our experiences together and some that began after her return from Pasadena, CA, some years ago. She was a good daughter to take care of Janis all those years after Jan's husband died. And now Connie keeps an eye out for her sister Rebekah. Never had a sister while growing up--just a brother three years older, but the age difference between these two was more of a problem than not. And living through the years of differences in society was not much help. It reminds me that life for our first son was SO much different than for the last son. Nine years separated their births as well. It is definitely better to have children closer together when possible--unless one has six to eight kids! Whew! Would not manage life as well with an entire tribe as what happened with our kiddos.
Did not even realize that this weekend was considered a holiday until Connie mentioned it. Hello! My life has been one long holiday since 2008! And have mostly enjoyed not being in the "workforce." Connie was talking about the hours her friend has to work--at least one hour of overtime each day and work 8 hours on Saturdays! Crazy! When would a person take a deep breath, much less clean the house! Not sure how my children handle life with both parents working, but they must manage. Never hear too many comments that sound like complaints--well, except about laundry. But washing clothes and getting them actually put away is part of everyone's hassle!
Reading the rest of this book tonight if all goes well. Nothing else planned for today after putting the hens to bed. Thompson spit his little nasty pill back into my hand three times before we finally got it down, but now he has been medicated and treated with good little snacks. Michelle noticed how much better his skin looked today, so maybe this expensive medication is doing some good. Just noticed that the little nasty pills say ONE pill daily for allergy and the other bottle says TWO daily. Dadgumit! Well, at least he only has to get the big pill down twice a day. But could have been saving on the cost if the vet had pointed out that there was a dosage change--or if the old woman had paid attention to the writing on the bottle!
Can't remember exactly how getting to this site is managed, so will not attempt to give instructions until that is more easily done. But think this is where the blog posting for Common Sense and Happiness is going to end up eventually. At least until November and all the craziness has subsided somewhat. Some stress is inevitable, but this lately has been a bit much. Hope you all will understand.
May God bless you with rest and peace. You are loved.
I know exactly what you mean about Facebook. That's why I don't go there anymore! Life is much more pleasant!!
