Checking Prices!
Some folks are doofless, and then there is me. The chicken
quarters are sixty-nine cents a pound. The whole chickens are ninety-seven
cents a pound. Yes, you get six breast pieces out of three chickens, but you
have mostly paid for the bones in the rest of the critter! Duh. Oh well.
Already have the quarters cooked up, deboned, slipped into baggies, and
refrigerated. Just waiting now for the three whole chickens to finish cooking
in the roaster. They may not get deboned until the morning. And tomorrow the
new dog food is supposed to be delivered. Am trying to find a food that is good
for the dogs since they are both considered seniors. Patty told me that her
friend was using something from Sam’s for her dogs, and that the stuff seemed
to be doing some good for their arthritis. If it is actually helpful for them,
maybe we ALL need to be on that stuff!! [only semi-joking]
Saw an advertisement for my nephew’s one farm on FB today
and reposted it. Didn’t pay any attention to the price he put on it, but know
it would help him if it sells soon. Would appreciate your prayers for him and
for the sale. He will know more about the multiple myeloma and how much
dialysis he will need as he goes along, but know for certain that he can’t be a
chicken farmer any longer. Life is rough, but then to be a farmer and not be
able to do anything is even rougher.
Sometimes things that are posted on FB just inspire me.
Other times, the old woman has a tendency to get easily ticked off. One day, my
good neighbor reminded me that the depression that took my son was neither my
fault nor his. Mental illnesses are not things that can be placed in a box and
shuffled around to discern causes or cures. We do not have any easy answers for
depression or any other type of mental illness. And some things about
depression are fleeting; others stay with a person for the duration of life. An
older friend told me that if only he had stayed closer to God, he would not
have died. Today, someone on FB said that all the suicides were caused by lack
of Bible reading. Oh my! For me, right now in my time of life, these are the “end”
times. Satan is very apparent in what is going on in this world. No amount of
Bible reading will stop that horrible spirit. Only God, in His timing, will put
a complete stop to Satan’s maneuvers. It occurred to me to remind that man of
Elijah and how desperately depressed he was when God brought a bird to feed the
man and allowed him to be comforted by telling him that he was not the
only one obedient to God. Yes, we need to know the Bible and need to be
reminded of God’s love. But just reading the Bible or even going to church is
not the total answer to the problems of today. Looking at the bigger picture, so
much more is prophesied to happen before the return of Christ to this earth. They
will proclaim “peace, peace” when it is going to be a lie. But those who
believe and want that particular kind of “peace” will be as bad as those who
falsely proclaim it. Know this: Elijah was promised to see those who were
obedient to God—even if only in God’s words. We have to believe those same
words. There will be faith when He returns. Let us keep the faith and not find
fault with those who don’t fit our particular beliefs or stumble in being faithful.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
