Prepping for a Luncheon.

 Prepping for a Luncheon.

Mornings are brighter when lists make things feel more approachable. In this case, the five pounds of potatoes have been peeled, washed, and set into the fridge in water to be cooked tomorrow. Three different kinds of onions have been peeled and chopped to dress the hotdogs of those who think that stuff needs onions. Still need to boil three eggs for the potato salad, but that can be done later. And then the pickles need to be chopped up for that same salad. The pimentos and eggs go in at the same time, but all of it has to fit in one large bowl in the fridge since Sunday morning would see me smelling like the kitchen otherwise. Still need to rinse out the new igloo carrier so the soda won’t be in there. New things do NOT smell good when they are made of plastic. But the six little tong sets have been washed and are ready to go back in their boxes. The shredded cheese and the onions will all need tongs. Anyway, let’s hope this first little social will be well attended and fun for everyone.

My dogs have been well fed today. Thompson told me just how the cow ate the cabbage early this morning. He wanted something good, thank you very much. Made a burger patty for both dogs—one for each. Not spoiled or anything like that. Then tonight he came and told me he was hungry. Sigh. Yes, more burgers.

It is so hot outside that it does not feel like it is possible to even breathe out there. Early this morning, the old woman brought the truck up and unloaded the water hose and put it back on the faucet. It was not needed at the church. Also, put the dolly back in the workshop. Have to get two containers of that stop leak for those stupid tires. Bending over and messing with the air hose and the little valve things is hard to do when bending and stooping hurt like this. Will be so glad when my body totally recovers from the back injuries. If that will ever happen, that is.

Watered the flowers in the containers and thought about sitting down to remove some Bermuda grass from a pot that Brenda Jones gave me. Maggie Sewell sent me a picture of her oxalis plant that she has planted outside. It is so pretty. Think mine may just get to be planted in the herb box soon.

The cactus that Laisha gave me looked sort of dry, so I put it in the sink and soaked it good. Apparently, it was home to an entire tribe of tiny little ants. ARGH!!! Sprinkled it good with cinnamon and decided to repot it. Really have never wanted any cactus, but Judie Brunson said she would like a start, so will scrounge up a pot with dirt and give her at least half of Herman. Laisha probably would not care. The little flower she gave me is blooming. It looks like a miniature chrysanthemum. It may get transferred this fall.

Got a kick out of Danny Pollard (my nephew, Sterling’s oldest child) saying that his new kidney that his daughter donated is working just fine. The only problem is that he has started liking pink and looking on Etsy for nail polish. Giggle. I am still praying that he will do well after he spends this month in the hospital while they give him drugs to keep him from rejecting the transplant.

One day this month the old woman will have to take Thompson to see his veterinarian. The Sam’s pharmacy was able to get the vet to give him more of his Galliprant, but know that he won’t do it again. They get a little grouchy about stuff like that. They have their own pharmacy there at the office, but the price for drugs is just a bit much. The Bravecto is the same price at both places, however. Don’t really mind taking Thompson in to see the vet, but Sylvia just almost shakes out of her collar when she goes. As far as she is concerned, those people are out to hurt her. Poor girl.

Really have been enjoying this Stanley mug that Lance gave me. Have knocked it off the desk or table a couple of times and neither time made a mess. That is pretty helpful. Clumsy folks need all the help they can get.

Sent off to Amazon for a hacky sack—whatever those waist band purses are called. Can’t remember. Anyway, have become tired of all the crud that hangs off my shoulders, so this will hang around my waist. Can still carry my gun and my phone and whatever else that needs to go with me. Now will just have my Bible and class book on Sunday to carry. Fanny pack, says Michelle Malay.

Have been reading another book by M.R. DeHann. This one is about Daniel. It makes me smile to see the differences in these writers who write about Daniel and Revelation. Daniel’s book was actually written at the time of the fall of Jerusalem but some people believe that the entire book was written well after those events. However, Jesus Christ called Daniel a prophet, so guess who we can believe.

It seems that when the old woman doesn’t write a blog post every night, she gets quite garrulous when she finally gets around to saying anything. Oh well.

Heard some heavy duty thumping earlier. Albert must be outside cooking for the Fourth of July. He likes his music and his meat.

Everyone has cut grass except for the places down on the road. Guess we can just pray that nothing catches on fire down there. Met up with Mr. Black’s granddaughter at services. Funny how things like that happen. She lived down there in the Black’s house for years until her boyfriend died in their bed. Hanan called him Santa Claus because he was so rotund. Anyway, she left down there and apparently moved in with her son. Now she is living with one of the ladies in the church and taking care of her.

Just hung up the phone from talking to Michelle. While talking, put some eggs on to boil. They FLOATED!!! That means that they are old and not good. So, the dogs will have scrambled eggs tomorrow. Or tonight. Sent a message to Brenda Jones to let her know the eggs were old. Oh well. Potato salad is better without eggs anyway.

We need to be praying for those folks and firefighters in Colorado and other places. These fires have just been horrible. Tornados are always bad, but fires kill indiscriminately. From the little critters, to the barns, pastures, and every animal that can’t get away from the fire, it kills them all. Birds have no recourse, and neither do the insects, lizards, and other critters that make our world special. It is just mindboggling to think what these fires destroy!

Have been seeing that they are STILL digging out folks from the buildings that collapsed in Venezuela. At the same time, at least six other countries have been hit by earthquakes. Makes a person stop and think.

May go to bed early this evening. Love seeing the fireworks from Japan that featured President Trump, but also love that at least one state set up a booth for the fair despite the fact that the governor of the state would not help at all. Businesses and bi-partisan leaders got together and made it happen. Great country we live in!!

Let us remember where blessing come from every day! God has blessed us so very richly—as a nation and as individuals. Let us thank Him.

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
