More Dirt.
Yep, more dirt has found its way under my fingernails
today. Got some grass, some garlic bulbs, and some flower bulbs dug out of the
little flower bed next to the porch ramp. Not all the grass got thrown in the
trash bin, but most of it was already beginning to deteriorate. Put the last of
my potting soil on the surface of the bed and scattered lavender seeds on top
of that and then watered it down good. Will have to remember to water often for
a couple of weeks to be sure the seeds get a chance to sprout and get a good
start in there. Would really love to have a bed of lavender all the way across the
front of the porch. Here’s hoping.
Chris Ohm came by for a visit today and brought a couple of
bags of lettuce. He grows a decent garden and shares with whomever. Traded him
some eggs for produce. That felt like a really good deal to me. Had a salad
from some of the iceberg lettuce. Will try the romaine tomorrow. He says the
biggest drawback is the lack of water on his place in Henrietta. He has two
wells, but one has salt water in it that has to be changed by reverse osmosis.
Time consuming. Anyway, he seems to be happy to garden.
Washed a couple of rugs today and used a dryer sheet that
came from some that Patty gave me. Not sure that strong scent would be good in
my clothes, but it is not bad for rugs. Used some Tide that she gave me as
well. It seems these were some things that Donny had bought that did not meet
with Patty’s standards, so she asked me to either use them or get rid of them.
So, use them it is. Know that Jennifer’s household cannot use Tide in their
clothes either. Free and clear still does not mean that it won’t make a person
get a rash.
Had to laugh at Jennifer telling about doing laundry at her
house. Both of her boys decided to do laundry at the same time she was getting
hers done. Can’t wait until those two end up having to use their own time and
money for a washer and dryer in their own place. It should be interesting. Can’t
imagine it being in an apartment unless it has its own hook ups.
A lady online was talking about putting her hens in with
the younger chicks today. Of all the things we can do with chickens, this is
one that has slipped my memory. Don’t remember the last time flocks have been
mixed around here. It should be interesting. With only six hens, the chicks are
in the majority at twenty-five. We will see in another month or two. Know the hens
just love that starter food.
The new screen door for the hens’ coop needs to be trimmed,
but the old woman has not tried to plug in the little saw to trim it yet. Maybe
tomorrow will be a good day for that. Some folks (me) just don’t feel real brave
about using electric saws. Oh well. It’s not like it is all that hard to
handle.
Got the floors in the living room and kitchen vacuumed
today, but the dogs discovered that their treat box had been moved. Of course,
they had to check it out to be sure that all the treats were still good and
crumbly like they expected. Sigh.
Talked to my sister by another mother today to ask about
how she is feeling. Will be so glad when she starts getting stronger. But then,
she was so sick for well over two months before going into the hospital. It is
not that much of a wonder that she has not really recovered her strength yet.
Still, please pray for Sharon Dickerson that she will get back on her feet and
be able to take care of herself in whatever way is necessary.
Remember to pray for those who are trying to recover from
illnesses, relationship troubles, financial woes, job worries, and other
assorted problems. We are SO blessed to be reassured by God that we are in His
hands according to His plans.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
