Unusual Weather?
Nothing really surprises most Texans about our weather. My
grandmother once told her friend that it would be about as likely as a blizzard
in July if anyone in the family even noticed her birthday. She and Faye Lyons
were out in the plum patch at the time and a large front blew in right about
then. Sure enough! They had a bit of snow blowing in that storm! It was
Grandmother’s birthday—the first day of July when she turned 50 years old!
(1956) Well, today in Philadelphia, they had enough hail in a storm that they
called it snow. So, there you go!
Blake, the lawn guy, came by himself today, so it took him
over three hours to cut all the grass and weed eat everything. Feel sorry for
him when he does not have a helper. That is a LOT of grass and mowing for one
man to do—especially in this heat. But it certainly looks much nicer. Albert
Leos has his yard looking spic and span, too. He mowed it like a golf course
yesterday. Neat!
Supposedly we have a front coming in on Thursday so that
things might cool down just a bit. We are expecting the high to be around 95
degrees. Beats 106 for sure! Just won’t mind seeing autumn get here. Could
really enjoy some fall rains.
Trying not to look at any news. Everything is a bit
unsettling. Some of us would like to see a sense of unity and calm, while
others seem to find delight in picking things apart. May God forgive us our
animosity and help us to have a loving attitude toward others—no matter what.
Let us pray for peace.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
