Christmas and Hanukkah.
This year, the beginning of Hanukkah comes on Christmas Day.
In the next few days or so, other observances take place for different people. Whatever
situations folks observe, the meaning is important to those people specifically.
Personally, the celebration of the birth of Christ seems to outshine any
celebration known to mankind. The symbolism is deeper for us than any
commercialism could ever make it. And the miracle of the eight days of oil for
the Menorah during the time of the Maccabees just tells us that God is aware
and stands by His people in all ages—in my opinion. For my beliefs are in ONE
God who sent His son to become human from birth so that mankind could be saved
from destruction. No place, no ceremony, and no human can stand between me and God—according
to HIS word. No height, depth, or any material thing can separate me from the
love of God. In fact, should my mind deteriorate into feebleness and confusion,
the fact is that God knew me from before my birth and will bring me home to Him
in my death. The evergreen trees, the sparkly lights, the music—whether choral
or commercial—have no bearing on faith and love. God gives us His love freely. It
is my job to continue to reflect that love in my life. The name of the day
matters not at all.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
