Nuts and Berries!
It’s probably not a great idea to sit here and type up the
blog right this red hot (REALLY hot) minute, but the salmon pieces are heating
up in the air fryer and the salad tastes pretty decent, so here goes: Another
stinkin’ test is scheduled for the 5th of August. That is one day
before the pre-op appointment with Dr. V. Oh well. Remember the Yogi Bear
cartoons where he would get so disgusted because the Forest Ranger would tell
him that he could not have picnic baskets? He would shout that he was going to
starve to death and then the ranger would tell him to go eat some nuts and
berries. Well, Yogi would shout: Nuts and berries! Yuck!
The nurse today said that she was ordering a chemical stress
test for me, so that was about the time the old woman wanted to yell: Nuts and
berries! Yuck! At least they were able to schedule this 3-hour test for early
in the morning.
It has been one very hot day and the wild birds are using
the drinking bowls for the dogs and hens as a bird bath. The hens are hiding
under the deck where the dripping water hose is keeping them somewhat cooler. Have
considered getting them one of those mister things, but have a feeling it would
just be a mess. Not that having a hose drip under there is not already messy
enough.
Really wish it were easier to water the front flower beds
and keep things out there from drooping in this heat. Got the new water hose
hooked up, but will not leave it stretched across the walkway in case someone
comes up the walk and trips on it. No sense asking for trouble. It would be
smarter to just go out and water early every morning. Sigh.
Didn’t sleep last night for some reason. Sterling says that
he woke up at 3 and then went back to lie down a bit later and got a better “night’s”
sleep. Wish that could happen around here! Oh well.
Reading a good series of stories based in the English
countryside. In it, the author makes a point to mention how racially prejudiced
most English are. Who knows whether or not that is even semi-true. Honestly,
think most folks are prejudiced about anyone not already in their “tribe.” Think
Texans have always been pretty much convinced that only Texans know about our
state or how things should be. But then again, maybe that is just my viewpoint.
The same can be said for old folks and their ideas about how things should be
in our society. We remember when a handshake meant something—when yes meant yes
and no meant no. Things have certainly changed.
Ok, we know—ALL of us know—that one thing has never changed
nor will it ever change. That is God’s love for us. Remember: For God so loved
the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believed in Him
would not perish but have everlasting life.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
