Subversive?
Now Keith is concerned that someone will find his photos subversive.
Ah, but does he know that a certain old woman has promised to dance naked in
the rain? Since the daughter told me she will not bail me out of jail, will
just wait until dark and dance to my heart’s content. [Will also wait until the
lightning stops streaking across the sky!]
Cooking backstrap—that is venison for good dog food in case
you wondered. I tried some of the steak. Nope. Not enamored. Really like lamb,
some beef, turkey, some chicken. But venison has a flavor that must take
getting used to. The dogs do not care. Thompson even stole Sylvia’s portion
before she got to it. Now have more on cooking for them. Still have a package
of deer hamburger left to cook maybe tomorrow.
Just so you know: Thunder Shirts work. Getting them on
straight is the biggy. Get the dog to stand and be still. Get the danged thing
pointed in the right direction. Now get the first flap pulled under and up;
then pull the other flap down to attach to the second flap. Voila! By that time
the neck thing is lose again!!!
Found out this afternoon that Lance’s oldest has
gallstones. Right now, they are talking about diet rather than surgery. Please
pray that the kid does not need to have them taken out. Yes, we know that the laparoscopic
surgery is not a biggie any more, but still.
Even if it means that the boys will have to be hired to
mow, this rain promises so much goodness! The hens will get to enjoy some
freshly grown grass for a change. Not that they mind eating cabbage, but still.
Cary Guidry’s mom brought them a couple of small watermelons that they have
been working on. Then John Rhodes brought them two heads of cabbage and some
alfalfa. Was able to send home a dozen eggs with him today. Actually, got three
eggs today from the nests. And the broody hen was not sitting on any of them!
Let her out earlier to see if she would just run around and not get on a nest.
We will see what tomorrow brings. Silly bird!
Had fresh asparagus for din-upper. Finished off with a
freestone white peach. Yum. Sylvia cleaned up the plastic bowl that had the
last of the spinach dip in it that had been a snack for me earlier. Then a flat
looking peach thing appealed to me. Not sure what those things are, and they really
don’t taste peachy, but they are not bad either. Ah, God knew what He was doing
when He invented the foods for mankind.
My other sister-by-another mother Cindy is on her way to
the ER with her daughter Sara. Please pray that they can help the young woman.
Sometimes science and doctors are wonderful, but other times it makes me
wonder. This girl has been in so much pain and wants a child. One ectopic
pregnancy already. That is hard on a woman. And Cindy cares so deeply about her
family. Let’s face it: when our children hurt, we hurt.
My friend Connie let me know this morning that her sister’s
best friend and part of her family all have that stupid virus. It is not gone,
dear hearts. Let’s take care of ourselves as nearly as possible. Those stupid
masks bug me, but if that is what it takes, then washing my hands and wearing a
mask it will be. Guess the flu shot is the next step. Sigh
Looking out the window to the road with the trumpet vine
hanging on a post makes me smile. It has two kinds of trumpets—one golden
colored and one red. We had red ones when we were growing up, but had never
seen the golden ones before these came up. Not sure who sent me the seeds, but
it just makes it look so neat with the two colors on the same post. It’s sad
that the honeysuckle died out, but maybe it just was not strong enough to live
through the heat and dry weather.
The irises are more brown than green, but the rain may
bring them back before spring. We live in hope, don’t we.
You will just have to forgive me if you don’t see any mention
here of things going on right now in the world. It is just a bit too much to
handle or consider. Let us find the happiness that is around us and celebrate
those things. May each day find reasons for you to smile and praise God. Rest
and recover from the stresses around you. You are loved.
