Grass and Trees.

 Grass and Trees.

Put the battery charger on my mower for a couple of hours. Afterwards, it said, “Ugh.” Stephen has promised to come over sometime tomorrow to see about it. Tried to see if the old woman could disconnect it to take the battery over to get a new one, but that did not work out well. Argh. What is funny is that only two parts of the grass/weeds will be mown. Have a bumper crop of bachelor buttons coming up in the east lots. Maybe the city won’t get all bent out of shape if it is flowering. And Patty said that the guys who do her grass will cut and haul off trees. So, may get at least one tree cut back. FINALLY got all the limbs from the apricot trees put in the trash bin. Had to cut them up into smaller pieces in order to get them hauled off.

This has been an absolutely gorgeous day! The mockingbirds, cardinals, and all the others have been carrying on melodiously. The hens have to sing about laying their eggs, so Thompson has to do his part to brag for them in dog howls. It is just too funny!

Have not heard from anyone other than Patty and the dogs—well, and the hens. Only messaged Stephen rather than try to call. Nikki has had a work day at her place today for all the farriers in this area. Hope it went well for them. Nikki keeps tearing up her hands when she works with the hammer. Don’t think that is good for a person’s hands, but neither is washing dishes. Just a thought.

The pump for getting the old gasoline out of the mower came today. Opened up the lid on the mower gas tank and it was totally empty. Shocker! Guess it evaporated. Oh well. Have a pump now that has never been used. It takes six double A batteries or two D batteries. Had the 2A, so that was not a problem. But looked all over for the D batteries anyway. Oh well. So very, very unorganized around here.

Need to vacuum again. Patty said she had just finished vacuuming and had put away her vacuum when Roxie shook off a couple of big fur chunks. She took her out on the back steps and combed her down a bit. Think that is what it will take PLUS training my two dogs to wipe their dirty feet before coming in the back door. Nah. It will never happen. Just have to accept the dirt and keep the vacuum emptied.

Other than one load of laundry, this old woman has not done much today other than cooking up some stuff for dog food. Well, and cooked up some maple sausage for an old woman’s breakfasts for this week. Have some big ol’ tortillas made with tomato stuff in them. Also have some spinach tortillas for cheese and sausage rolls. Those are pretty tasty. Need to use up some tomatoes as someone hit the tomato twice when she ordered groceries. Oh well. What the old woman does not eat, the hens will.

Let us be grateful for this weather and the sunshine. Flowers down in Zupkus’ field smell just like grape Nehi today. Makes me want to walk down there and just inhale! God gave the beauty and the odors to benefit the critters—people included. Hope this is enough for the little honey bees and all the other insects. The plum trees are blooming, the apricots have not even sprouted buds yet. Here is hoping that they wait just a bit until after the last frost.

Let us praise God for all the blessings. And may He give us the strength of spirit to endure whatever comes our way.

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
