Trees Trimmed.
Two of the trees have been trimmed. The Bradford pear looks
much better and the hackberry in the back yard no longer hangs toward the
electric lines leading to my house. Blake did a very good job. Maybe Oncor will
eventually get some of the stuff done to the middle of the trees and trim up
the hackberry so it won’t hit the trash truck. Yay!
Heard from Jennifer today as she showed me her house after
the painters were ALMOST finished. Know they will all be glad to have it done
and over with. Meanwhile, they have squirrels that the dogs have killed that
need to be disposed of. Jenn and I laughed—yes, it was not nice of us—because Grayson
went UKK ukk a few times trying to get the mess cleaned up. Pretty sure Jenn
will have to finish that job. Men can be so funny about stinky things.
Seems like the days are getting a bit longer now. At least
the hens are staying out of their coop longer. Showed Jenn a picture of the
chicks. She thinks that they are quite big. Hoping that they do get as big as
the Marans, but since they are a mixed breed, who knows how they will turn out.
One chick—the male—picked on another one. Thought he was going to hurt the
other one. Silly chicks. Have seen the others do that to one another, but he
just held on longer than necessary. If he really does turn out to be a rooster,
will have to find a home for him. Stephen said he would be Sunday dinner at
their house. Oh well.
It has sprinkled some this afternoon. Not really rain, but
not dry either. Go figure. Jenn said it was raining in the DFW area off and on
as well. Weather is always iffy at best and surprising all the time. At least it
is not too dry now. The lake levels are much better! Won’t gripe in the least.
Not sure what else might need to get done tomorrow, but
plan to go to TSC and pick up some diatomaceous earth for the bottom of the
coop. That will give the ladies something to fluff their feathers in to keep
bugs off of them. May put some in the bottom of the little coop for the chicks,
too. They have not started to dust just yet, but it won’t be long.
Had thought about making some bread today, but that did not
happen. Maybe tomorrow. The best laid plans of an old woman and all that. For
sure the floors need vacuuming again. Sigh. If it rains, it makes mud; if there’s
mud, there are dog tracks. The story of a woman’s life. Could be much worse,
trust me!
Know about as much as those silly hens tonight. Have listened
to the songs of the birds all day. Not sure which ones are leading the choir
right now, but the orchestra must include lots of wood winds and flutes of a
high echo. Life goes on here on Dickerson Hill.
Let’s remember that all good things are from our Father Above.
He gives us what we need when we need it according to His plan.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
