Big Mouth and Muddy Feet.
No, we have NOT had any rain. But Sylvia, and sometimes
Thompson, step into the water trough and just stand there soaking themselves.
Then they find the nearest dirt pile and walk through it to bring into the
house. Have one of those mud rugs right inside the door to stop the extra water
and mud from spreading. Well, would you look at that! Guess which dog can step
on the mud mat and STILL get mud on the floor! She is talented that way. Right
now, they are in the office floor playing big mouth and huffing at one another.
Love these silly critters.
Took Patty to see her doctor this morning and sat and read a
good book while waiting in the truck. Found that my knee was not giving me too
much pain this morning and did not even really need my cane, so left it in the
truck. Not sure if it was Patty’s prayers or what that made the difference, but
it was wonderful to be able to walk without that much pain. Guess eventually
will have to ask Dr. Blackwell for whatever it takes to get one of those little
tags to hang from the driver’s mirror. Some days are not bad at all, but the
days when it is bad are pretty much miserable. Oh well. Still going.
Shona sounds as if she has asthma and the other neighbor is
simply sick with negatives on all her tests for the usual crud. Praise God,
Patty might be pretty breathless, but she has a great attitude. Me, just too
ornery for words.
It makes me almost sick to my stomach to see what is going
on in NC and Tennessee and along those rivers. We just have to pray fervently
for Florida tonight that the storm surge won’t take any more lives. Things are
not easily replaced, but people and their critters matter! God knows. And may
the rain from this stupid storm not inundate all those who have already
suffered through the flooding.
Meanwhile, Texas and Arkansas and all the areas in between desperately
need rain. We are right back in the midst of another stupid drought. Paul
Dowlearn suggests we just dump all the chopped-up wood chips and stuff on the
areas that we might have otherwise planted. Think that is exactly what this old
woman may do. Getting into and out of the back of the truck is the really hard
part. Might have to call Gregg and Vickie again to see if they can spread that
stuff for me. Have to put a big tarp over the load to prevent mess on the highway,
so if a half load of that junk can be put in the back of the truck, maybe it
could just be pulled out. Hmm.
The hens actually gave me seven eggs today. One got broken
in the nest or it might have been eight. But one was such a deep, dark
chocolate color. Love the eggs from these Marans. Keep telling myself that this
is the last of the chickens because it is so much work and so very expensive.
But then, even feeding these two dogs is a lot of work and expensive, too.
Had some cranberry chicken salad for supper. Love the little
pieces of celery in there. Celery is one of my favorite crunchy veggies. Fresh
English peas are pretty good, too. And then there are those neat little sugar
peas that you can eat pod and all. Talking about food and not even hungry. But
then, did not drink coffee this morning before we left so that there would be
no need to go find the facilities, ya know. Tomorrow is another day.
One last thought to share: no matter what church you attend
or what religion you follow, no one can deny God—the ONE true God. Some
countries have millions of “gods” in their beliefs. But God wants you to know,
HE is the true God. The only way to God the Father is through His son, Jesus
Christ. We should be praying for those who have been deceived into wrong
beliefs. We should be living our lives as a testimony to what God wants in His
children. Let us pray, let us live the way He guides us.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
