Hopalong Hannah!
Last night was pretty interesting. The dogs wanted out at 4
or a little bit thereafter. Thompson was raising cane about something in the
workshop. Thinking it might be a stray cat, the old woman took her cane and hobbled
out there. Nope, not a cat. But putting my cane in the spot Thompson indicated,
a big ol’ possum took a big bite of the end of my cane. His—or her—mistake.
Sylvia grabbed it by the neck and crunched on it to her satisfaction. Did not
find a “body” in the yard this morning, but made the dogs stay out until around
six when they demanded to be let back inside. Because I fell asleep again, the
hens were not released until 8 a.m. They were NOT happy hens. Sigh
Stripped the bed of my new purple sheets and put the bright
yellow ones on instead. Washed the purple ones and then another load of
laundry. Still have not quite got things folded and put away. Lay down again
this afternoon and did not even hear my phone until Laisha called just a bit
ago. Getting lazy in my old age—or just a bit lazier.
Kinda wondering what might be going around. Laisha and Shona
both have been sick. Fever and feeling rough. Surely hope whatever it is clears
up soon. They both work hard all day running from one place to another.
My cousin Fay with her husband John might have been leaving
Lake Lure to go to Tennessee to see Fay’s brother, his wife, and their family.
Surely hope ol’ Milton does not collect any other strange storm systems to stay
around or make another path up the East Coast. God must simply bless those
people up there. At least those folks don’t have to define the word “neighbor.”
Just walked down to Patty’s here around 7:30 to talk to a
man about the road. Maybe that will be done by the first of next week. The gate
where Patty’s property starts has become so bad that the folks who deliver
things to her have drug the bottom of their vehicles. That simply won’t do.
May just have my groceries delivered in the morning. This ol’
knee really is giving me fits. Two arthritis pills should help in a day, but
maybe it is better than it feels like?
Saturday is the Day of Atonement—Yom Kippur. Then the Day of
Trumpets and the Feast of Tabernacles will come shortly after that. Strange
that Israel is in all out war during this time. Last time it was Egypt that
attacked them. This time it is Iran. Have a feeling that Iran may regret attacking
the people of God. May God bless Israel. The last book of the Bible tells of
some things that look as if the entire world will be against them some time
soon, but it makes me not want to be here when that happens. Patty told me this
evening that she is not sure why God still has her around. Know the feeling
well. Guess we will be gone when HE decides we are no longer needed for
anything.
Meanwhile, praying for my grandson Reece who has the same
kind of temperature as Shona and Laisha. May God heal him and help him to take
care of the critters. And may his parents enjoy being with relatives during
this special time.
Let us pray for everyone in harm’s way. May we all have the
spirit and will to rebuild our country in every way possible. Let us be good neighbors
to all.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
