The Vets’ Cool Floor.
Gave Sylvia some trazadone last night and again this morning
with nacho cheese. She was so totally drunk that she slipped off the steps that
are used to help her get into the back seat of the truck. Poor girl! At least
the vet tech helped when we were ready to leave and simply picked her up and
put her inside the back seat. They asked me to give her that stuff so that she
would not try to bite them when they trimmed her toenails. Didn’t bite, but Dear
Hearts, it did not stop her from expressing her feelings vocally. Thompson was
very upset that she was in the other room and carrying on. He wanted to go take
care of the problem. Finally got them both out of the room and over to the checkout desk. Sylvia just lay on the floor as if it were too difficult to stay on
her feet. Hated to give her that stuff, but at least she got her nails trimmed
and did not chew on anyone in the process.
That office was absolutely interesting with all the dogs—and
only one cat. Tiny little lady with a huge Goldendoodle, a big lady with an
overweight border collie, a really tall man with a tiny little wiener dog, and one
Australian cow dog that just could not be still. Thompson decided the floor was
nice and cool and just stretched out—never moved even when folks stepped over
him. Still think we need an Olympic event called “dog stepping” where a person has
to step over multiple dogs without stepping on a tail or foot. Can just see
that event now!
Blake is supposed to come to Patty’s tomorrow to take out a
dead tree. If it does not rain until late in the day, that should work out
well. And Patty has a couple of jobs for her husband’s friend Roy that include
putting in a new flapper on the doggie door and checking on the fence line near
the lake. Three dogs showed up recently on her place and should not have been able
to even get inside the big yard. Guess maybe we will see where they got in through
the fence line.
Did not pick up groceries yesterday and don’t want to get
out again today. So, breakfast or lunch-upper has consisted of avocados and
Pace picante sauce with chips for a couple of days. Just not particularly
interested in cooking. The dogs are going to have to get interested in eating
up the last of the ham cause the old woman certainly doesn’t want any. Iced
tea, watermelon, something cold or easy to eat sounds much better. And summer
isn’t even here yet!
Have mentioned Toni and her new baby to the Father a couple
of times over the past few days. Sitting here thinking that Shona and Albert
will be happy if both mother and child are healthy at this point. A C-section
is definitely not easy on the mother, but sometimes it is not too good for the
child either. Anyway, let us pray that Toni heals quickly and that the baby
will do well.
Let us pray for peace in this crazy country where people can’t
stand for others to have their own feelings about the war in Israel. May God
protect His people and give them the wisdom to handle the upsetting circumstances
around them.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
