Trying for Grass Seed.

 Trying for Grass Seed.

Have decided not to have the east lot cut so that the grass going to seed out there can ripen and be just another snack for the hens or fall and maybe even resprout on the ground. Either way, it might be more helpful to the land than having it cut and lay on top of the other grass. Still have bachelor buttons and Indian paintbrush flowers blooming all over one end of that lot. It pleases me to see the flowers and now the grass. Just hope the city does not come along and want it cut to their specs.

Tony Zupkus has allowed the Johnson grass and other stuff to start crawling up on his neighbors’ fences. As long as it is not dry, it won’t be dangerous as far as fires are concerned, but it would still be better for it not to edge into others’ yards. But at least he cuts the grass there more than once or twice a year now.

Had to get a rain check at United this morning as their market truck with the chicken breasts won’t be here until Thursday. Michelle Malay taught me to ask for rain checks. It does make it easier to stock up on cheaper meats. But then, they have that one refrigerated table that they have marked down meat for 40% off. Got a nice roast there this morning and cooked it in the new roaster. Have learned so much from the book that came with the roaster about the different things that can be “roasted” in there instead of in an oven. Did you know that you can “roast” pies and cakes in a roaster instead of in an oven? Neat deal!

Got a package from Amazon today that Jennifer had sent to me. My face has always pumped out enough oil to keep a car running over the years. She had the same problem as a kid and a specialist had her using something that keeps it from getting so irritated. She found it online and had some sent to me. Here’s hoping that this works, but already tried it and my face does not feel as if it has been sandblasted for a change.

Talked to Patty earlier and made a small complaint about hurting when getting out of bed this a.m. She said she had the same problem today. Then we got to comparing notes. No lifting of anything here and definitely no lifting at her house, so we can’t figure it out unless it is just this dadgummed weather. Humididity! Yes, MS Word. The old woman knows it is incorrectly spelled, but that is how it needs to be said right now!! If we did not have this strong wind blowing right now, we could all just get oxygen masks to attempt to breathe! Never have enjoyed swimming, but walking in this air is almost as hard as swimming in a pool!

Have you ever noticed some of the things that are written in the New Testament are written by the hand of those other than Paul or one of the apostles? In Romans16:7 the church is told to slute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen, and my fellow-prisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me. Then in verse 22 it says, “I Tertius, who wrote this epistle, salute you in the Lord.” We know that Paul had a problem with his writing—whether or not it was from vision or something else, it doesn’t matter. Two points here: Junia, a woman, was called an apostle. Tertius, may or may not have been calling Andronicus and Junia HIS kinsmen or may have been taking dictation from Paul. Wouldn’t it be something to know who was kin to whom in all these situations? And then there is the idea that women were not supposed to be teachers? Pastors? So many things have changed in our days that just about anyone can claim that they have started a “religion” or a “church.” But guess what! Nothing has changed that much since the days of Paul. Look at verses 17 and 18 and think about the “good words and fair speeches” that “deceive the hearts of the simple.” It always ticked me off that ministers did not feel that women should be teachers in the church. But then, just read about how many women had churches in their homes—inviting in those who loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Those women were teachers. Even Paul was taught by his mother and grandmother—besides the classical kind of education that he received due to his Roman citizenship. Some things just make a person think about back then and now and how things have been made to help us learn what is necessary to faith.

Rest well, my friends. Know that you are loved.
