Weather Watching.

 Weather Watching.

Today was a good day for watching the weather. Talk about some massive bangs, booms, and crashes! The thunder shook the house and the lightning made the air sizzle and pop. Scary stuff, Dear Hearts! My dogs and the old woman all considered hiding under the bed. Patty said that Roxy was glued to her like one of those sticky mouse traps! Looked outside at one point and could hardly see the yard fence not even 20 feet away! We got one inch of rain in nothing flat! We can almost bet that anyone with those Bradford pear trees or anything brittle was going to be all over the ground. The Western soapberry always sheds branches in high winds, but even some of the leaves covered the ground this time. Yep, we got some weather. Makes a person appreciate calm days and blue skies that are not clotted up with wind gusts.

The lake is looking more like a lake every day, and most of us are hoping that the area lakes used for our city water are filling up just like Lake Wichita is. We could never use the water from this lake for drinking—well, maybe it could be used since they have managed to reuse sanitation water. Yuck. Simply do not want to even think about that! Of course, this bottled water probably came right out of some tap in Ft. Worth or Dallas. Don’t want to think too hard on that situation either!

Honestly, we just need to be thankful for all the many blessings that we do have and the many privileges we have been given. Somehow, we have what we need because God has given it to us in one way or another. We have been protected from storms lately even when they come close enough to frighten us. We need not fear a drought for the time being. We still have relative peace in our city. The big trucks still bring us food and whatever else we might need. We still have farms and farmers that supply us with feed for the chickens, sheep, cows, and other critters. Let’s face it; we are just cared for as if we were children. And like those children, we need to appreciate what we have. Let us be grateful and know that all things from rest at night to food on our tables are the gifts from God. Now is the time to watch for Him to return.

May you have peace knowing that you are loved.
