Different Dog Different Vet.

 Different Dog, Different Vet.

Was getting out of the shower this morning when Patty called to ask me to take Roxie to the vet. Little dogs can get sick sometimes pretty quickly, but her problem was just being uncomfortable with anal glands. Not a very nice situation for public discussion, maybe, but just as important to the dog as anything else. Anyway, Colonial Park took care of the situation and, we returned rather quickly. Sat and talked and read the note that Katy sent Patty thanking her for the many things she had sent for all the dogs that needed to be adopted or helped. Seems they took in two mother dogs that immediately had their pups. Some of the dogs are terrified of leashes and collars, so the harnesses Patty sent were very helpful to those dogs that could be adopted. They have to be acclimated to wearing a harness and being socialized. Saw a picture of a most beautiful pit bull the other day that was such a healthy-looking dog. Afraid that it might have been kidnapped for the purpose of a fight ring. Just horrified that people do that kind of thing. But if that dog got away from the dog-nappers, he will be very hesitant to let anyone catch him. May God bless the critters. They don’t deserve to be abused or neglected.

Other than being a bit cooler today, the weather has not been bad. Not sure why my body aches today, but maybe it is the weather and more changes. Rubbing on some stuff on my lower back and neck has helped, but not nearly as much as the Rx that Dr. Blackwell prescribed. Just don’t like to take meds all the time.

Will have enough eggs for my kids by this weekend so that they can both have a couple of cartons of 18. Can’t believe how expensive those things have become! Still need to go get some oyster shell and one more bag of lay mash. Not cheap, but not about to let my critters get hungry. Will also have to get another head or two of cabbage this coming week. Eventually the grass will take off and grow, but it is still pretty sparse currently.

Was so happy with the news Patty shared with me about OK Concrete saying their attorneys would send her something to say she did not owe them anything. Looked up her friend Roy on FB and found out that he knows my nephew, Danny. How funny! Danny is a big ol’ guy, but is as sweet as a person could be. Very different attitude from a biker person. Anyway, I still feel happy about it today. Probably should not have said anything on FB about the crook who took advantage of her, but it still ticks me off.

Patty and the old woman were talking about this business of children being encouraged to believe that they are one sex or the other—despite the biological situations. Reading what God says in His word, He is the one who makes us what we are—whatever that is. It is not my problem if a young man prefers to be a girl or vice versa. As long as one’s strength is not used to take advantage of another person, what we think of ourselves seems pretty immaterial. God made me pretty stubborn. Now being obnoxious might not have been His intention, but can’t imagine not being argumentative in my opinions. We are what we are.

Let us show our respect for others even when we don’t agree with their opinions. But also let us remember that we have just as much right to an opinion as any other doofless person! May God help us be the people of character that He would have us to be.

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.

Lights and Electricity?

 Lights and Electricity?

The wind is doing us up a number, so will be saving this often and hoping to get online to get it posted. No guarantees.

Patty called me this morning to tell me that her friend Roy had had some words with Pat O’Hara about his having her billed for gravel for this road. OK Concrete had sent her a certified notice of a lien put against her home for an unpaid bill by Industrial Asphalt that O’Hara said she did not pay. He had already overcharged her one thousand six hundred dollars for the job, but this was a bit much. She was fit to be tied, and the old woman felt horrible for encouraging her to get the road worked on in the first place. Down near her gate was nearly impassable because of the trenches the city trash truck had made, but that certainly was not improved to the tune of $2,600. Anyway, Patty’s friend Roy let O’Hara know that HE was not some little ol’ sick lady, and if the bill was not resolved and marked paid without a lien or anything else for Patty to worry about, he (Roy) would be meeting up with O’Hara to do some reconciliation work! Yay, Roy! No more problems. Praise God for biker men with lots of hair, muscles, and mean looks!

This wind has been pretty rough. The electricity went out for just a short while earlier. Let’s pray that the wind settles down and the trees are not blown down all over the city. The rain was wonderful, but the wind and cold just hurt.

Jennifer called to say that they got a tornado alert this morning at five, so she was already tired by noon. At least they did not have to stay in the cellar all night. AND they have a cellar where they could put bunks if they needed to.

Sharon Dickerson said that they had high winds down in Shreveport, too. She and their critters huddled down in one place to try to protect themselves, but they have LOTS of trees. No one can predict where a tree will fall or fly. Guess that is true just about everywhere.

Trying to remember to drink water today. Jenn said she had been feeling bad and then realized she had not been drinking enough water. Easy to forget to do that one essential thing. Staying hydrated matters.

The storms are rolling all over the country, so this evening let us pray for those who are threatened by hail, high winds, fires, and such. We won’t gripe here in North Central Texas if we get a bunch more rain, as that inch and a half in the rain gauge this morning might help, but it won’t get us the soaking the ground really needs. Meanwhile, let us pray for peace and common sense. Still thinking of those who were flooded out or burned out in NC, CA, TN, and other states. May God bless those who are ill and those whose lives have been totally uprooted by disasters.

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.

Storms.

 Storms.

May be an image of tornado, map and text

Was rather busy this morning taking Sylvia to PETS clinic to see if they wanted to cut her nails, but they showed me that it really was not necessary. So, we had one trip to the vet that did not leave her terribly upset. There we go!

Jennifer sent me the picture above to tell me what to expect tonight. Have my “go bag” packed with extra clothes, meds, and ammunition. Ya never know what you will need. Cooked dog food for the dogs and one pan for me. Pretty good stuff—beef, rice, and green beans with some curry powder sprinkled over mine. Not sure the dogs would care for that stuff, but it appeals to me.

Guessing that this ol’ woman will put both dogs in the truck later after the hens are put in their coops. Then we will drive down to Patty’s to spend the night in the basement. Taking a stool for sitting for me and maybe a blanket or a bed for my dogs. Right now, the wind is only about 20 mph and gusting. But it is supposed to be 60 mph tonight. We may have chickens scattered from here to Clay County or Montague. Just have to pray that God will protect everyone. Really don’t want to have to go to the basement. Decisions, decisions. Common sense and my thinking don’t quite mesh. Patty at least has a good place in her hallway. But I worry about my across-the-street neighbors. That house is supposed to be well anchored, but this is Texas.

Still reading about Revelation in Lehman Straus’ work. He is so much easier to read than the book itself. The terrors to come are simply horrifying. How could anyone not believe in God? Let us pray for our children and all our nation. Fires, floods, storms and earthquakes are busy making life harder each day. May we all be protected and find a way to praise God!

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.

Early Morning Exercises.

 Early Morning Exercises.

Stripped the bed, took sheets and a fluffy blanket to the kitchen to start a load of bedding, made the bed with around six or eight trips around that king, then cased the pillows with clean slips. That is exercise in my opinion. By the time all that was finished, it seemed as if my morning shower was already finding sweaty spots just from the workout! Oh well. Walking up and down the hall half a dozen times, across the kitchen to the washer, and then circling around to find my shoes—well, that was exercise too.

The hens were happy to get out this morning. Last night my count came up one short. Then a certain little lady named Red squawked from the front yard. She had been out to get something green to eat. Guess it’s time to get the girls some cabbage again. If we don’t get rain soon, we won’t have anything to mow this year. May have to put up a temporary fence on the front yard so the girls can have anything green that they find out there. Sigh.

Talk about frustration. No glue to fix the chicken tea kettle lid, dropped a screw from my sewing machine which must have bounced into never-never land, and then noticed that it is sprinkling. We desperately need rain, but dumb ol’ woman went ahead and planned to pick up some cabbage at United at two this afternoon. IF we get any decent rain, you can bet it will be while the truck is out to get a slight rinse. And does it ever need it! Meanwhile the mailman brought me a big box of black soldier fly larvae for the girls to help make their egg shells stronger. Had already taken a big bag of frozen carrots outside for them to nibble on. Those were the two-pound bags that were on sale at United, so the cost was negligible. Still, Jenn told me she had to reorder dog food because the Purina beef made all three dogs sick. She had to cook for them—chicken, rice, and green beans. They loved it, but she doesn’t really have time to cook for dogs!

Guess since the screw is missing, a note to Singer will take place this afternoon. Dadgumit! Have to figure out the model number and all that good stuff. Took a piece of tape and wrapped the other screw into that and placed it on the feeder plate. Maybe that one won’t get away from me! HOORAY!!! Found it! Got out the spotlight that Patty gave me to help me find Thompson when he visits the back forty at night while chasing boogers! There the screw was behind the sewing machine table near the wall. Praise God! Really hate writing to companies for parts. Now to clean all the inside parts that got that sticky stuff in there. But that may not happen today. Kinda tired already.

The notice on my computer said that heavy rain will begin in another hour. Naturally. Sitting here shaking my head and feeling kind of useless. Only one room cleaned today and a few things other than that accomplished. Oh well. The hens will appreciate the cabbage. And after the trip is made and the truck put away, maybe the old woman will sit down and read some more in Revelation.

Let us ask God for His blessings on this ol’ world. SO much is in turmoil. Which we knew would come soon. But let us look toward His kingdom and His peace in our own lives.

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.

Marching to a Different Drummer.

 Marching to a Different Drummer.

Yes, the wind blew March right into the windows, the sand, the weeds, and what’s left of the trees. It’s so dry that any rain would have to go to West Texas to make a mist! So, the weather forecast is for showers soon. Good luck, West Texas!

At least the sun has shone today. And the phone has rung a couple of times. Spoke with Michelle Malay who has to wait—unless there is a cancellation—until March 28 to get her new knee put in place. Prayers for comfort and healing would certainly be welcome around that time and before. Her in-laws are staying long enough that she will have someone at the house to handle the dogs until she is able to get around better.

Talked to number one child who was replacing some kind of fluid in his side mirrors. Go figure. He watched a YouTube video to learn how to do it. These kids are amazing!! The stupid button on top of my tea kettle fell inside the kettle this morning. The old woman could not pour water from the kettle because the steam went straight up. Need to find some kind of glue to make that stupid little button stay on top of the lid. Hmm. Meanwhile, number one was about to install a new garage door opener. Sheeesh!

Patty sounded about as enthused over her Frito chili pie as if it had been made by Roxie. Bleah, in other words. It takes a special kind of good meat to make real chili in my estimation. But then, chili is not my favorite meat dish. Not sure just what would be a “good” meat. Fish—of some kinds—or maybe just good bacon. Oh well. Not like any of us will go hungry tomorrow. Cabbage soup is better than beef sometimes. Or baked potato with all the good stuffings!

Seeing several pictures of Lowry Mayo and Dianne’s family who have moved from Israel to Texas. Think a few more have yet to make it here. They have twins to raise right now along with some pre-teens. Looks as if the grands will have their hands full and enjoy every minute of it. Look forward to hearing Lowry tell us about his family additions when we have the next meeting of the Route 66 Group—our school buddies from elementary through graduation.

Lance sent us pictures of our granddaughter’s dog Codi and all her puppies. Would just love to sit down in that big puddle of puppies and play with them. Nothing as neat as smelling puppy breath—even though my theory is that the smell only lasts as long as the mother dog is taking care of them. Still, they are just so very sweet.

Whatever else is going on—wherever, this much is true: For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) In this was revealed the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. (1John: 4:9)
