Early Morning Exercises.
Stripped the bed, took sheets and a fluffy blanket to the
kitchen to start a load of bedding, made the bed with around six or eight
trips around that king, then cased the pillows with clean slips. That is
exercise in my opinion. By the time all that was finished, it seemed as if my
morning shower was already finding sweaty spots just from the workout! Oh well.
Walking up and down the hall half a dozen times, across the kitchen to the washer,
and then circling around to find my shoes—well, that was exercise too.
The hens were happy to get out this morning. Last night my
count came up one short. Then a certain little lady named Red squawked from the
front yard. She had been out to get something green to eat. Guess it’s time to
get the girls some cabbage again. If we don’t get rain soon, we won’t have
anything to mow this year. May have to put up a temporary fence on the front
yard so the girls can have anything green that they find out there. Sigh.
Talk about frustration. No glue to fix the chicken tea
kettle lid, dropped a screw from my sewing machine which must have bounced into
never-never land, and then noticed that it is sprinkling. We desperately need
rain, but dumb ol’ woman went ahead and planned to pick up some cabbage at
United at two this afternoon. IF we get any decent rain, you can bet it will be
while the truck is out to get a slight rinse. And does it ever need it! Meanwhile
the mailman brought me a big box of black soldier fly larvae for the girls to
help make their egg shells stronger. Had already taken a big bag of frozen
carrots outside for them to nibble on. Those were the two-pound bags that were
on sale at United, so the cost was negligible. Still, Jenn told me she had to
reorder dog food because the Purina beef made all three dogs sick. She had to
cook for them—chicken, rice, and green beans. They loved it, but she doesn’t
really have time to cook for dogs!
Guess since the screw is missing, a note to Singer will take
place this afternoon. Dadgumit! Have to figure out the model number and all
that good stuff. Took a piece of tape and wrapped the other screw into that and
placed it on the feeder plate. Maybe that one won’t get away from me! HOORAY!!!
Found it! Got out the spotlight that Patty gave me to help me find Thompson
when he visits the back forty at night while chasing boogers! There the screw
was behind the sewing machine table near the wall. Praise God! Really
hate writing to companies for parts. Now to clean all the inside parts that got
that sticky stuff in there. But that may not happen today. Kinda tired already.
The notice on my computer said that heavy rain will begin in
another hour. Naturally. Sitting here shaking my head and feeling kind of
useless. Only one room cleaned today and a few things other than that
accomplished. Oh well. The hens will appreciate the cabbage. And after the trip
is made and the truck put away, maybe the old woman will sit down and read some
more in Revelation.
Let us ask God for His blessings on this ol’ world. SO much
is in turmoil. Which we knew would come soon. But let us look toward His
kingdom and His peace in our own lives.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
