One Slicky Icky Floor!
Vacuumed all the floors and then mopped the living room.
That is as far as the energy lasted. Maybe later the energy will reboot and the
old woman can get some more done. Or not. Moved the little rocking chair
Sterling made and discovered that one of the dogs had barfed up grass by it.
That had to be cleaned up, of course. Then found another spot behind the door
to the kitchen. Same thing. Grass eating is something that doesn’t make sense
to me, but it never fails to make one of them hup chuck. Bleah. Maybe grass is
like Pepto Bismol for dogs?
Went to United and got both the flu and RSV shots this
morning. Also got the tags for the truck renewed. Had tried again this
morning to do this online, but without success. Apparently, something has to be
unblocked or otherwise allowed in order to put a credit card on their website.
Whatever. Won’t even remember this by next year!
Thinking about going to the feed store today and just having
them put the feed in the back seat since the energy to unload and dump the feed
in bins may or may not be present when the return trip to the hill is
completed. Wish some of the energy we had as kids could be saved until we got
old so it could be more useful. One thing that is interesting about getting
older, however, is that the naps Mom insisted on back then are mighty pleasant
these days.
Laughing with Shona the other day about all the stuff that
goes on in this neighborhood. She actually asked me if the old woman had a
police scanner. Nearly dropped my upper plate! How funny! AS IF anyone cares
about stuff that goes on out here. In the summertime, if there is enough water
in the lake, the noise level gets a bit much from the ski-do things and the
shouting of the kids around the boat ramp, but otherwise, the quiet is just
wonderful. One of the funniest things was the day that AJ ran inside and told
his mom that there was a “naked man” over at Mrs. Dickerson’s! Sterling has
trouble wearing a shirt because of the shingles! But naked he was not!
Just returned from Sutherlands and the Feed and Garden Store
where Tom Greenwade sells feed and seeds and assorted farm supplies along with
dog food and such. Had them load the feed in the back seat, but the
determination remained strong enough to get the stuff unloaded into the bins.
Both dogs had to go sit in the truck while the feed was being unloaded. They
love to ride in the truck—at least short distances. As soon as they both hopped
out, they had to go over and smell around Max and Laisha’s place before they
would come back into the yard. Silly critters think they can smell cats! The
old woman forgot to shut the back yard gate, so the hens—well, two of them—got out
and had to be retrieved. Thompson helped herd them back inside.
Got some Phillips screws and some grout stuff for the back
of the sink. The screws are for the hen coop, but that may or may not get done
today. The grout will probably wait as well. Getting a wee bit pooped.
Walked over to Shona’s to give the kids some gold fish (the
edible kind) and Hershey’s chocolate. While there visiting, Shona asked for
prayers for her daughter Lexi who is going to have to have a stint—at least one—put
in a blood vessel. The kid had open-heart surgery when she was young—the real
kind and not just by-pass surgery. Anyway, let’s pray that this procedure goes
well for her. We can all be thankful for the advances in technology and health
medicines that we can quickly recover from problems with our heart, veins, and
assorted areas of our bodies. Praise God that we can ask for His intervention!
Having “spring rolls” for din-upper. Really enjoy most of
these oriental types of food except raw fish, squid, and those little things
that look like crawdads—shrimp. Isn’t it funny how words just get away from you
even when you know them very well! Oh well.
This has been a beautiful day with some sprinkles and kindly
breezes. Just love days like this! Nothing green around here except for the area
around the washing machine drain, but that’s ok. The hens like that green stuff
well enough. John Rhoads brought them some alfalfa this morning and will stop
by and pick up eggs this afternoon. He brought some horse feed that had mold in
it that had to be pitched. Hens and horses are not allowed mold! Most critters are
like that, but hens can’t have salt either. Now John knows better! And the old
woman will be more careful before she reaches inside a sack to throw something
to the girls!
Lance sent a picture of his rain gauge—two inches in Ft.
Worth so far! Wow! God has truly blessed them with rain down that direction.
Sigh. May the fields and pastures, tanks, lakes and ponds of all the dry areas
receive God’s bounty. And let us be grateful for each blessing in each day
whether or not we receive rain. Let us be happy in life that we know we are
loved by the Creator of all life.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
