Sweet Friends.
Came home today to a paint job (plus) that Roger did for me,
and then my friend Michelle came this afternoon and spent some time just
visiting with me. No one would understand what it is like to be “alone” the way
a widow ends up, but Michelle understands. And Roger is a friend from back when
we were just kids running around in that little Podunk town north of WF. While Michelle
was here, my son called and we both enjoyed listening to him. He had no idea
that Michelle had a “job” for him in mind, but Lance laughed, so maybe it was
not too much of a surprise to him. Think he has about decided that the only
purpose of a son is to manage the things a mom can’t get done otherwise! To
tell the truth, the silly jobs don’t matter at all compared to having him call
and tell me he loves me!
The hens are still slacking off on the egg laying thing, but
at least they got a few out today. Sent some home with Michelle, but will have
to encourage the girls to get with it if they expect to have any sent home to
my kids anytime soon. Have told these girls that they are getting prime feed
and that they need to appreciate all that good stuff. They do seem to prefer to
jump up on the bench and help me with cereal and milk or whatever—even if it is
just coffee! A hen high on caffeine! Wow!
Honestly have thought so much today about the folks who live
in Florida. It doesn’t seem to matter where we live; nature has her ways of
making life interesting! But when the winds hit 130 mph, it is plum scary. Let’s
pray for those who can’t get away from where they live. May their animals be
protected as well. Things are expensive, but generally can be replaced. Lives
and the loving creatures are totally different. May God bless those in the path
of this storm.
All over the world, we are seeing threats and battles and
more violence. If Satan had his way, we would all be wiped out or at least
decimated down to only those who would follow his evil intents. It is up to us
to look to our heavenly Father and follow His son Jesus Christ in a manner that
makes a clear distinction between hatred and love. Let us pray, give thanks for
His mercy, and attempt to show love for our fellow man.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
