Dealing with Cold and Hen Houses.

Dealing with Cold and Hen Houses.

Think one of the hens must have stepped on the control switch on the electric cord to the heated water bowl inside the coops. So, this morning the water bowl was semi-frozen. Took it out and dumped what was in there, cleaned it out, refilled it, turned the switch back on and set it in a slightly different place. Here’s hoping.

Even dressed in layers, Dear Hearts, it is cold out there. But at least the wind is not blowing a gale across Lake Wichita. Yesterday the wind never let up until late afternoon. The dogs were not especially happy to go outside, but did their thing and came right back in. Can’t say that was not surprising. The temperature on the deck this morning was 20 degrees while the temp on the front porch in the sunshine was 27 degrees. Definitely not sweater weather!

The neighbors across the street drove in from Plainview last night accompanied by swirling snow. It didn’t make it all the way here with them, however. Won’t hear me griping!

Wondering about a few things lately—the exchange of prisoners just seems unreal. So far maybe three women who are in “stable” condition? It just seems unreal to attempt to bargain with terrorists, like petting a rattlesnake. May God bless those people involved that have been held from their families.

And then tomorrow our president takes office. The flag will be raised to full staff for that day and then lowered to half staff for the rest of the month in remembrance of President Carter. So much has been said lately about the fact that President Biden had to be helped to sign any bill or paper put in front of hm. Dementia. It is no respecter of persons. But it is a shame that someone else has been running our government behind the scenes.

Reading through the book of Hebrews currently. Sometimes so much is packed into what Paul had to say, but it feels as if he were reassuring those who believed that they would never be lost as long as they kept their eyes on God and His purpose. It makes me think that those who are lost into the world of insanity or dementia are not under the same judgment as those who purposely disregard the gift of the spirit of God. Can’t prove my theory, but it does not feel like those who are losing their minds are willingly being at cross purposes with God. How much more important it is for us to live our lives with respect and love toward others as a reflection of God’s love for us.

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
