Just Reading.
This was a good day for just being still, reading a good
book, and not trying to accomplish much. Well, the laundry got washed, dried,
and put away, but that is hardly an accomplishment. Keeping the hens happy was
not the least bit difficult since the sunshine thawed the ice and snow out.
Both dogs were relatively happy, too. Guess this was a good day all around.
Lance said that he might come next Saturday, so will be
saving whatever eggs are laid for him. He will help me load the feed bins, too.
May not have many eggs for him as the hens have slowed down on laying. Such is
life. Also, one or more of the older hens has had very thin egg shells, so the
nest has to be checked often to prevent messes. It is sad that there is no good
way to provide them with the calcium that they need. Thought about giving the
girls cottage cheese once a week. Could not be any more expensive than a head
of cabbage.
Laughed at myself last night. The calendar Jenn gave me had
December through December, so all day yesterday it said it was the 13th
–of December. But the old woman had January in her mind. Sitting here laughing
at myself. Such is life. Even called the grandson to sing to him until he told
me what day it was!!
Looked all through my desk drawers for the battery backup
for my phone. Just to be on the safe side, it should be around in case of a power
outage. Couldn’t find it just yet, but you can bet the old woman will be
looking again!!
Finished the last book of Thessalonians. They are short
books, but Paul was all about telling them how much pleasure it gave him to know
that their faith was well grounded, and the reports of their congregation were
only good ones. That had to have been satisfying for him. It makes me wonder if
Christ thinks that His sacrifice was not made in vain. It is all that we can do
to hope that our faith is pleasing in His sight. We know we are loved beyond
what we can imagine, but being reminded doesn’t hurt one thing! We don’t have a
Paul around to hear reports of our conduct or the love we can have for others,
but we know when we are praying for others that we are pleasing in His sight.
My friend Henrietta Arguien lost her home in the LA fires. Her
husband died some years back, but she still has children in that area. At least
one of them also lost her home. Let us pray for not only my friend but for all
those who have nothing left in their lives to show that they once lived in that
area. May God bless them in whatever way is the best for them.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
