Friday's Rumbles.

 Friday’s Rumbles.

Ah, sweet, cooler air outside to enjoy this day is just perfect! Got down to Patty’s place this morning and watched the two littles running around trying to find the best places for sniffing, digging, and otherwise making messes. They love being able to run around out in the pasture to the north side of the house. But Patty has to keep a close eye on them. We never feel totally sure that a big cat (cougar) or coyote won’t come out of the brush and pick one off. The bobcats don’t usually mess around in the daytime, but even a big raccoon could take one of the dogs. Had one out in front of my house the other night that Thompson would have thoroughly enjoyed chewing on. Only thing that bothers me is that those creatures are vicious and carry diseases. Anyway, it made me wonder if that was what got into the hens’ coop to get Rusty Lady.

Had arranged to meet Connie at Kohl’s to look for some over-the-shoulder-boulder holders. Found three that were comfortable enough to purchase. Have already washed them—yes, paranoid about bugs from overseas or whatever. Anyway, such things are expensive. Like everything! Then we went to Jimmy’s Egg on the corner of Maplewood and Midwestern Parkway. They have a meeting room that will hold up to 50. Meant to ask what it would cost for a group of twelve or so to eat there, but needed to get to the bank and a few other things. Will almost bet that it would not cost too much if the hours are right. Not even sure what their hours of service happen to be. Oh well. Not that the Route 66 Group would necessarily want to go there, but it would at least be different and good food.

Jennifer just called from W. VA. She was telling me about the fact that the laptop she has been using does not have a number keypad on the right-hand side. Of course, she constantly needs that number pad, so she had to be sure she checked her numbers twice because she was not using what we would have called a ten-key pad. Maybe she will get good at either one. Know she is fast and accurate with the ten-key side. SO glad she has the head for this type of business. And she knows how to make it clear to those who are behind in their payments that they will either pay or not receive further materials! She just needs a black cape and pointed hat while working. Giggling!

Discovered something interesting. The lady who did my massage the other day stuck her elbow in the big muscle on my hip and leaned into it. Now my feet do not feel as tingly!! If this means that the muscle is causing tension on those nerves, then a massage once or twice a month will definitely be worth it! We will see how long it lasts.

Still working on a series of books by Steven Higgs. This is the Patricia Fisher series about a woman who discovered her husband cheating on her with her best friend. Her reaction is completely different from what mine would have been. Neither one of them would have been able to walk when the old woman got through with them! Whoop @ss! No excuse for cheating in my estimation! But at least she did not go to jail for her reaction and she cleaned out their joint bank accounts. All kinds of ways to make a point.

Got one nice egg from a Black-laced Wyandotte today (Dolly Parton). Petted her and bragged on her. She was proud of herself. Only hen out there cackling! Be glad when the others get their acts together and start filling up those nests again.

Need to get my number one oldest child to come up maybe next weekend to put a couple of sheets of plexiglass on the middle coop top to keep the rain and stuff from getting on the feed and the nests. Would do it myself, but if the old woman fell, would never hear the end of it! As it is, every time something comes up that needs –in MY estimation—to be done, a little thing goes on a list for one of the kids to do. The roof of the coop, the digging out of some area next to the porch to get ready for bulbs, the board that anchors the front door to the coop that keeps vile critters from getting inside the coop needing a long screw put in up high, and a few more things that are either too heavy or which make me wonder about the best approach. Oh well. This, too, shall pass.

The pictures of the devastation in Florida are just mind boggling. Jennifer said that she had not seen anything about South Carolina. THOUGHT that they had posted some pictures of electric trucks coming in to reestablish the electrical supply, but maybe those were of something else. Not sure just who among the group on FB would know about SC. Know that it has to be making folks seriously nervous to have all the piles of trash and refuse just sitting there on the sides of the road. Someone said that the snakes and alligators were going bonkers all over the place. Yikes. Guess they got stirred up along with all the water.

Don’t really know much except that it just keeps seeming to be more insanity coming out of the WH with talk of nuclear war. Sitting here shaking my head. The guy across the street reminded me that the Israelites were in the same country as the Egyptians, yet they did not suffer with fleas, boils, hail stones, etc. Good point, huh. No guarantee that God will do that again, but let’s face the facts that God has a tendency to repeat certain miracles: Elisha healed the waters of Jericho, and he also had his servant put twenty loaves of barley and full ears of corn before a big crowd of men—with leftovers after they finished. Remind you of anyone? II Kings 4:42—44.

We will never know for sure what the future will bring each individual, but GOD KNOWS. Read and understand His love for us.

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.

Scrub-a-Dub-Dub.

 Scrub-a-Dub-Dub.

Had a facial early this morning at Spa Bella. Dava had assured me yesterday that it would be so relaxing. Uh, well, maybe for some folks it would be. Found myself so tensed up that breathing became a conscious effort. The young lady was using her fingers to trace over my skin very quickly in patterns circling the features of my nose, chin, cheeks, forehead and back again. It was going so fast that it made me feel as if the old woman should be up doing something instead of trying to lie still. Eventually, she got around to putting on a mask of some kind after she ran over my face with some kind of beads that felt a bit like those air shots the grands used to use on each other. The hot towels were the best part, along with the hand massage. Anyway, we will see if doing that ever again will happen. Bought some facial scrub stuff recently that might be just the thing to help me get all the oil out of the pores. My old face could qualify as an oil field some days. Think it is this Texas heat!

The squirrels have a runway right in front of my house just on the edge of the yard. They use the telephone poles as their jump-offs to go to the trees on the end of the yard. Rotten little bushy-tailed ratniks! The dogs hate those things. Understand completely. They cuss the dogs—and probably me as well. Flipping that tail at us makes me feel as if some of the chatter would be x-rated language.

Have been reading about the problems in Florida and elsewhere. It is just so very sad. Someone was saying that “nevermind the freaking electricity—she needed clean water to drink or for cooking.” Remembering what it was like after the tornado, it is easy for me to commiserate with her. We had zero water and no warning that we would need it. They at least knew that the hurricane was coming. But still, no one has any idea how bad the damage will be when they are threatened by a storm of any kind. The ice storm we had last year was a horrible mess. Frozen water pipes in areas that had never frozen before was part of the problem. But when it thawed out, the plumbers could not stay awake enough hours to get the repairs done even if they had the parts to work with on them. If Jerry Hobbs had not helped me to get to my hens, they would all have died in that mess.

Texted back and forth with my youngest grandchild. She may come see me next week. Really would be nice to have her here even just for a day. Right now, it looks as if we may get some decent cooler weather this weekend. Not sure we should actually hope for rain, but it won’t keep me from praying for enough to do us some good. We need about 12 inches over a period of time that would fill up the stock tanks and lakes—slowly and not so fast that it would flood anyone out. Picky, picky, picky.

Opened a can of cranberry sauce to eat with chicken purchased from Walmart the other day. It was a roasted chicken and not bad, but the cranberries just made it much better. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, but for the past couple of years, it just seemed better to stay at home. Not sure if driving to Saginaw is going to be too much for an old woman or not. So far, driving to Henrietta and back has been pretty hard on my back. Probably just tension and the after effects of being with Anne in her situation. We will see.

Sterling and Jacqui should be in Copperas Cove today and probably won’t start back to Arkansas until Sunday. He mounted one of his airplanes on the gazebo near the front porch here. The wind has really made it move around. Lance and Jennifer will have to come get their airplanes when they have time. Mine is red, white, and blue. They get to have the ones that are turquoise. Just think they are so neat, but then, Sterling has always had a way with making stuff that amazed me. Hanan was like that, too.

Read something about these little perfumed things that folks plug in to make their houses smell different. So many of them are bad for critters. They can quickly kill a cat. Did ya know that? Fresh air is much better for everyone. Just a reminder that sprays in the house might make your critters sick. Know a few people who can’t even stand to have scented candles in their house. Makes me wonder what is in those candles.

Nary an egg today. Think only one hen is doing any of the laying. The black-laced Wyandottes are obviously the better hen for laying eggs. Oh well. It’s not like the old woman plans to do this again with raising more chicks. At least at the moment it feels as if it would be too expensive, no matter how much pleasure the little ones give me. That feed just keeps going up in price. Oh well. Our food does as well.

Don’t know much today—as usual. Let’s pray for those who are caught between battling elements of political messes, those who are stranded by the flood waters and devastation of the storms, and those who have to deal with the unrelenting traffic of the drug dealers and sex traffickers. This world is a mess even without dealing with storms. Let us ask God to have mercy on those who are in its midst. While we are at it, let’s pray for rain for those places that desperately need it.

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.

Roadrunner Surprise!

 Roadrunner Surprise!

Coming home from Spa Bella and parking the truck in the car shed, looked up to see a roadrunner jumping up on the back fence. He/she did not seem the least concerned that the dogs were both out back close to his position. It made me smile. Thompson killed one in the hen coop last year and it made me feel that might have been the last one in the neighborhood. So now we can be assured that the roadrunner is on duty. Hope he is finding all the snakes he can eat!

Dava did such a good job on my ole carcass. The muscles are much more relaxed, and we had a good visit. She is such a sweet and pretty person. Have been following the trips she takes with her husband and drooling over some of the places they get to visit. Their last trip was cut short when they tested positive for covid, but they plan to do the Alaskan cruise next year or the year after that—but with the entire family! Sounds like fun since they all like each other. That helps.

Sterling and Jacqui came back by earlier and brought three airplanes for us. He mounted one on a post on my gazebo looking thing out front. The other two are for Lance and Jennifer. He said that when the wind gets to blowing a gale, the plane will almost sing, so this should be interesting. Really would like to have one of those things that tells you how fast the wind is moving, but they are rather expensive. A chain on the gate would probably work just about as well. You know the routine: if the chain is blowing against the gate, the wind is blowing; if it is hanging straight out in the wind, you will need to hold your hat on; if the chain is whipping in the air, you need to get out of the tornado!

Great minds think alike, or so it is said. Jennifer went to get a massage the other day while Aunt Caroline was having her nails done. Sounds like she has found a good spa partner!

One of the black-laced Wyandottes left an egg in the nest for me. Just one. Guess one out of thirteen (twelve that should be laying) is not too bad considering that they are all actively molting. Feathers are everywhere! Athena is really too old to lay now. But she is still a pretty bird. She still has the bossy attitude that she has had since day one, too. Funny how that has worked out.

So many people have been affected by the hurricane off the southeast coast. One of the ladies was begging for help for her daughter who is about to have a baby a few weeks too early because of all the stress. She is a single mother with a child already and an apartment with seven inches of flood water draining out of it. Makes me wish helping from a distance were not so impossible. The mother of this young woman has her own physical restrictions, so it is not like she could go get the daughter and her babies. Life is hard sometimes.

We have no rain in our forecast. It is sad to see my trees and the ground turning brown and browner. Still have a black trough out on the deck for the dogs. Thompson went out and sat down in it to soak his old body. Guess it is a good way to stay cool. The hens have big black water bowls, but the wild birds tend to use those bowls for bathtubs! Sometimes the water only has to be changed once a day and other times more often. How they get it so dirty is beyond me.

Supposed to go out to eat with Jacqui and Sterling when they get back over here. We have to go in my truck, however, because they have a toolbox in the back of their truck. Haven’t thought too much about where to go unless they want to go to Chicken Express or something of that nature. Fed them roast chicken last night, so they may want something different. Guess we could go to Pioneer on Maplewood and have fish baskets or even a steak. Sterling does not like beef because he says it is too hard to chew. Understand completely. That is the same reason my daddy said that they started buying pork roasts—it was always easier to eat.

Patty said something about voting the other day and wondering if we should do the mail-in ballot. As long as Beto does not get the vote in Texas, the rest of it may not matter. It just seems pretty impossible to believe that the last election was up to snuff. Lots of people disagree with me—and others agree. It just seems strange to me that 51% of Americans would vote for Biden. But at this point, may just stay at home and pet the dogs and feed the hens and not worry about even one iota of political bovine excrement.

Know less than usual due to my “don’t give a rat’s back leg” attitude. Hope that we can show others the love that God has given us. We must pray for others first because we know that we are already known by our Father. Let us reflect that knowledge.

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.

A Good Day.

 A Good Day.

Sterling and Jacqui left a bit ago after we had din-upper. Jacqui takes the same medication for her acid reflux as the old woman takes, so it was interesting to me that her doctor told her she could take it twice a day. Basically, it works well for me if nothing gets put in my mouth after five in the afternoon. Otherwise, well, indigestion or whatever is not any fun at all. But WallyWorld provided a roasted chicken, mustard potato salad, and the chicken livers that got fried in olive oil. They were both happy to have the livers. It is great to find someone who likes the same thing as me. Anyway, they will be back sometime tomorrow before they head off to Copperas Cove to see Sterling’s favorite kid.

The day started early with the house being vibrated from some deep bass music or noise. Some idiot was driving his/her car on the dry part of the lake. The neighbor across the street thought he heard a gunshot, so he called the police. Four and then later five police cars arrived to take charge of the situation. They hauled the car off, too. More drug idiots, probably.

The weather was gorgeous today. The AC was only used once or twice. Anyway, the hens were happy and flocking around the coop when my legs took me out there. They are always ready for snacks—a bit like Sylvia.

We need rain badly. But this afternoon the old woman ordered some bulbs to plant right next to the porch and the ramp up to it. Just have to have some color out there! Flowers make me happy. May have to look for some ivy to have in the house. Used to keep plants all over the house, but stopped doing that for several years. Have an aloe vera and an African violet in the house, but nothing else. Ivy just sounds nice. Oh, and the spider plant that hangs on the deck out back. It will go in the kitchen window when it is time for frost. Determination.

Maggie Sewell’s daughter Carla had a heart attack, and today they put stints in to keep the veins open. Let us pray for Carla and for Maggie, too. Know how worrisome it is when our children have illnesses. Life is hard, but illnesses just can make us feel defeated. May God bless them.

SO many people in Florida are up that famous creek with flooding and other destruction. The housing market is hopeless down there—horribly expensive. Anyone losing their home is not going to be able to stay there. Can’t imagine what all those people will do, especially if they have lost their cars, trucks, and such. Let us pray that whatever they need can be taken care of soon. Even the animals that have no place to go are better off than some of the people because animals just need food and water. People have significant types of traumas after living through this horrible storm. Even those who did not lose their homes, transportation or jobs will be subject to panic attacks after that mess. Let us pray for them even if we can’t give a decent amount to help them otherwise.

Son-in-law is in Tennessee on a business trip; daughter is in West Virginia taking care of an aunt and uncle. Lance and his family are still here in Texas taking care of the usual stuff. Think Grayson is the stable anchor for the Ostand family because he is at the house taking care of all the dogs and other stuff. Reece is probably at his apartment with his humongous Russian Blue sitting on his face to get him out of bed—how about that as a wake-up call!  Lance sent a video of the Ft. Worth police department advertising for recruits. It was hilarious. They definitely have a car salesman’s approach to “selling” their job openings. Thinking the old woman could go apply to ride one or more of their horses out on the streets of Ft. Worth. Lance agreed that we did not need to tell them about the back surgery. Ahem.

Really don’t know much except to gripe that Walmart now has TWO—count them carefully—actual check stands for those who do not want to use the self-service checkouts. I stood in a short line behind a couple who were driving those little cart things. Helped the lady find her credit card after she dropped it. It fell into the side pocket of her purse. Whew! Anyway, almost wish Walmart would take this new situation and chew on it a little bit before they swallow. It is totally unnecessary! Much prefer checkers who can help and talk to us. Even Market Street has some really lax sackers who need their butts kicked, but at least they still have checkers! Oh well. Doesn’t do a lot of good to gripe. Not that it will stop me!

Let us pray for peace, pray for those who are in bad situations, and pray for those who don’t realize that God is in control. May our lives be filled with the love that He has given us.

Rest well. You are loved.

Erratic Inevitabilities.

 Erratic Inevitabilities.

Have you ever noticed or thought that when something needs to be done—even just ONE thing—that any number of things have to be done around the same time? Well, that has been this day. Thought of changing the sheets and doing some laundry, but felt like warmed over crud this morning. Lay back down for about an hour until Sterling called. He and Jacqui will be here tomorrow if nothing rips, rears, or ravels. That meant cleaning the floors from the back to the front. Got that done. Needed to pick up a few things from Market Street. The few ended up being several more than that, but at least a gallon of white vinegar (for the drains) made it into my cart. After everything was totaled, it was a bit over $170 for those FEW things. Oh well. It is just money, right? Jennifer promises that no one takes it with them. With that in mind, scheduled a massage for Wednesday and a facial for Thursday. Giving myself permission to waste money on my body really does sound extravagant, but sometimes it pays to feel better about yourself.

Got a message from Lisa Carden in Oklahoma that the baby we had been praying about died. Know how hard that is on parents when they lose a little one so very young. We can pray that parents in that situation will be able to have peace and find a way into joy knowing that the child is in the hands of God.

Erin messaged me back this morning to say that his mom is still confused but not in pain. Not a lot can be done about confusion when it is based on both medications and physical illness. Some situations are just inevitable—old age is one that not everyone will get to enjoy—or endure. Have heard all my life that getting old is both hard on folks and a privilege to have toward the end of our lives. Then you have undoubtedly heard that old German saying: too soon old, too late smart. Yep. Know all about that one. Would have become a biologist with a chemistry background if the old woman had been the least bit smart. All those rag weeds could have become biofuel!

Have my saddle blanket across the seat of the recliner, and it is covered in black dog. Thompson really thinks that chair is his, thank you very much. It really does not bother me most of the time unless sitting in my office chair gets tiring. It is still easier to sit in the office chair the way a person is supposed to sit rather than with one leg swung over the armrest on the recliner. Yes, it is not the most ladylike position, but who really gives a rat’s back leg?

Wish the heat that we are having now had been the kind we had had all summer. This is tolerable. Still only got one egg today, but at least the hens seem to be happy enough. They come out of the coop and stick together running around the yard. Nary a grasshopper out there. Did see a couple of Monarch butterflies, and one of another kind came floating over the place the same day. Hope the Monarchs don’t all die out because of this stupid weather.

Western Mexico is about to be hit by a major storm. It looks pretty big on the map, but not much telling if the map is any real indication of the intensity of the winds. One lady in the wilderness group lives in Mexico and says it is a wonderful place to live on a limited income. She has a home, a cook, a maid, a gardener, and fresh fruits all year long. That sounds good to me. But then, maybe she is in an area that the drug lords don’t want to attack. Otherwise, she would also need a few Cruise missiles or something. One of my students was from Ecuador and said that it was the best place for Americans to retire because they had their own community and could live on the income they get each month and still have all the good things people there have. Sounds great unless there is a revolution going on like they had in Venezuela.

Tony Zupkus is down in the south pasture with a weed eater trying to chop down the grass that grew when the City of WF left a fire hydrant leaking for over a month. And WE are on water restrictions, of course. If we don’t get some real rain and soon, we are going to be up that famous creek.

Have been thinking about planting some bulbs in the front flowerbed next to the porch where a little bit of water would keep things going. Don’t remember the name of the flowers, but they make this tall stem with a wild looking purple flower bursting out of the top. Think that and morning glories would do the trick of at least making things feel a little more cared for. May have to get on Amazon and see what kind of bulbs are there for the best price. One year, Lowe’s had them, and the price was actually decent. Ah, if wishes were fishes, the whole world would swim.

Guess it is a good time to go be still and read for a while. This day started early and will not end until after eight when it is time to close the doors on the hen house.

Remember to pray for peace, for help for those in war zones, for those in the path of these stupid storms, and for those who can’t help themselves.

Rest and know: you are loved.

Funny Books.

 Funny Books.

Not the kind kids buy at discount, the books in my Kindle right now are the funniest kind—mature woman leaves cheating husband and becomes involved in several mysteries, first aboard a cruise ship, and then in various parts of the world from Miami to Japan and parts of the desert kingdom of some made up nation. Honestly, Steve Higgs makes me laugh and get excited at what he has this woman doing to solve mysteries! Having just finished the first set of ten Patricia Fisher mysteries, now the second set have been downloaded and opened on my Kindle. How will my children ever know how much good they did when they presented me with a Kindle (prime) and a notepad big enough to easily hold in one hand or two? Now this little detective lady is addicted to gin and tonic, but that would not do for an old woman like me. G2 is about my speed, ya see. But oh! Love these stories! THEY are addictive! Anyway, it is an easy and fun way to keep busy just reading and laughing.

Not sure if it will do any good to talk to these thirteen hens, but not getting any eggs is getting pretty old. Cleaned out the coop the other day, and now it is at least six inches deep in feathers again! How could they all possibly molt at the same time?? Oh well. The only laugh obtained from Anne the other day was from explaining to her why one hen is named Dolly Parton and another named Jolene. She rolled her eyes at me and chuckled. At least she was listening.

Still have a black rubber water trough on the deck, and two dogs who live here keep stepping into it, sitting down, and then walking into the kitchen with wet feet. Yes, we know whose fault it is. So what! It is ok for me to gripe since we know who has to clean up after them, right?

Had all kinds of plans for today and then woke up with a headache at 4 a.m. Got up at 4:45 and stayed up. Cut up the pork roasts to put in Ziplock bags so it is easier to feed the dogs each meal. They are not overly demanding, but they tell me when they want something. Of all the “talking” they do—well, mostly Thompson does the talking. Sylvia just barks at me. She also steals my chair! But then, she lets me have it back once in a while.

Jennifer said she has been waking up at 3 a.m. Think we have discussed the possibility that this nonsense is genetic. If getting a headache is handed down in our genes, someone needs to go back up the line and visit with someone about taking out that particular piece of genetic material. Dadgum~ She did seem to think that Aunt Caroline is doing very well after her back surgery. Let’s just hope that she avoids the BLTs the way she is supposed to do so that nothing comes back to hurt later. BLTs, by the way, are bends, lifts, and twists of the spine. It really is difficult to remember not to do those things since we have ALWAYS done them. The belt they put on us after surgery is supposed to remind us to behave, but that comes off about two to three weeks after the surgery and then it is up to the individual to remember what to avoid. And yes, it definitely makes a difference how much that spine is moved. In my case, it still gives me fits to use my upper body muscles and right knee. Oh well. Eventually it will either get better or the old woman will just take it as part of getting older.

Got my water bill the other day and found that it was $20 cheaper. Suspect that the meter was not even read last month. Guess it does not matter much. If it does not rain soon, we are going to have to start buying water from Arizona or somewhere. Ahem. Mexico? It used to be that hurricane season brought us rains. Not this time. We have hurricanes on both sides of the continent and no rain in the middle. Floods on either side and fires down the middle. Let’s pray that God takes pity on one and all. Critters need the rain as badly as we do. And then the critters are drowning on the edges all the way around. In my feeble mind, the picture is one of a soaked sponge being thrown in a microwave! Just horrible!

The news has not become any less horrifying with battles, kidnappings, explosions, and threats of nuclear war. May God have His kingdom come soon!

You know the eventual outcome of God’s plans, so let us continue to practice as much love as we are able. Pray for those who live in fear and uncertainty. Let your rest be in His hands. You are loved.

Another One of Those Nights.

 Another One of Those Nights.

Waking up at 12:30 and knowing one is wide awake is not the best way to get a good night’s rest, but at least there was a good book to read. By 3:30 the old woman was back in bed and slept until 6:30. All in all, the hours added up even if they were disrupted for whatever reason by the tendency to wake up like a light bulb! Funny thing was that Jennifer was having the same problem in West Virginia. Must be genetic.

Still getting one to zero eggs per day. Not sure just what the deal is, but these hens are definitely knocking off on the job. This keeps up, they may just have to find another home. Nah, not really. Love watching them and listening to them chuckle and say pucka pucka. Eventually they will get settled down from whatever is bothering them. Can tell you one thing for sure, the floor under the roosts is positively covered with black feathers. Molting is definitely under way. Told Anne the other day about having a hen named Dolly Parton for those big white breasts on her front. Anne rolled her eyes at me, and then she laughed when she found out that another hen was named Jolene. Jolene was the one that went broody and wanted to stay in the nest for weeks this summer. Kept dropping her happy tail feathers in the water trough so that she finally just got to the point that she sat on the edge of the trough. It was hilarious!

Had all kinds of good intentions of getting things done today, but other than getting all the laundry folded and put away, nothing much happened except cooking for my dogs. Need to make a trip to Wally World tomorrow and pick up some more meat. Don’t really like to go over there. Much prefer Market Street. At least they have real checkers at Market Street.

Noticed this morning that the sign in front of the trailer house has changed to a different realtor. May ask why if given the chance. Seems to me that if a person brings a house in, that person would be the one wanting to sell it. But what does an old woman know?

Went down and let Patty’s dog get out and run around for about thirty or forty minutes. We visited while trying to keep up with those two critters. The weather was SO nice this morning with a cool breeze. But we need a rain desperately! Here Florida is flooded along with some of South Carolina and we are dying of thirst! Noticed that our city has asked us to conserve as much as possible. Anyone can tell that no water is actually wasted around here because everything is brown or just plain dirt. Not any green grass out there at all. Sigh

Someone on the news on AOL mentioned that they wanted Putin to consider a milder form of nuclear attack. Not sure just how that is supposed to work, but it sounds like insanity to me. Even though we know that God allows men to be in positions of power, it does not keep us from shaking our heads and rolling our eyes when we see what is being considered. Sometimes the headlines make me wish for a place out in the wilderness near a stream of decent water, a place to have family and friends, and just what a person needs to get along during all kinds of weather. Isolationist viewpoint, right? Still, we are living IN this world even if we are not really a part of the insanity, greed, cruelty, and inhumanity. May God quickly bring His kingdom.

Really don’t know much. Asked Lesli today if they got the results back from Anne’s tests, but they had not called her. So, she and Erin know only what Dr. Parkey has told them before. Her body will be the determining factor in what they have to do for her. Les told me that even though she had asked me to keep an eye on her, no way should the old woman go over there too often. Once a week is about it for me. Driving still hurts, but that may just be tension. Anyway, we will see what the next week brings.

Let us pray for peace. Pray for those who have been lost to war, to floods, to insanity in this world. Let us practice love knowing that it is the most valuable way to live our lives.

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
