A Good Day.

 A Good Day.

Sterling and Jacqui left a bit ago after we had din-upper. Jacqui takes the same medication for her acid reflux as the old woman takes, so it was interesting to me that her doctor told her she could take it twice a day. Basically, it works well for me if nothing gets put in my mouth after five in the afternoon. Otherwise, well, indigestion or whatever is not any fun at all. But WallyWorld provided a roasted chicken, mustard potato salad, and the chicken livers that got fried in olive oil. They were both happy to have the livers. It is great to find someone who likes the same thing as me. Anyway, they will be back sometime tomorrow before they head off to Copperas Cove to see Sterling’s favorite kid.

The day started early with the house being vibrated from some deep bass music or noise. Some idiot was driving his/her car on the dry part of the lake. The neighbor across the street thought he heard a gunshot, so he called the police. Four and then later five police cars arrived to take charge of the situation. They hauled the car off, too. More drug idiots, probably.

The weather was gorgeous today. The AC was only used once or twice. Anyway, the hens were happy and flocking around the coop when my legs took me out there. They are always ready for snacks—a bit like Sylvia.

We need rain badly. But this afternoon the old woman ordered some bulbs to plant right next to the porch and the ramp up to it. Just have to have some color out there! Flowers make me happy. May have to look for some ivy to have in the house. Used to keep plants all over the house, but stopped doing that for several years. Have an aloe vera and an African violet in the house, but nothing else. Ivy just sounds nice. Oh, and the spider plant that hangs on the deck out back. It will go in the kitchen window when it is time for frost. Determination.

Maggie Sewell’s daughter Carla had a heart attack, and today they put stints in to keep the veins open. Let us pray for Carla and for Maggie, too. Know how worrisome it is when our children have illnesses. Life is hard, but illnesses just can make us feel defeated. May God bless them.

SO many people in Florida are up that famous creek with flooding and other destruction. The housing market is hopeless down there—horribly expensive. Anyone losing their home is not going to be able to stay there. Can’t imagine what all those people will do, especially if they have lost their cars, trucks, and such. Let us pray that whatever they need can be taken care of soon. Even the animals that have no place to go are better off than some of the people because animals just need food and water. People have significant types of traumas after living through this horrible storm. Even those who did not lose their homes, transportation or jobs will be subject to panic attacks after that mess. Let us pray for them even if we can’t give a decent amount to help them otherwise.

Son-in-law is in Tennessee on a business trip; daughter is in West Virginia taking care of an aunt and uncle. Lance and his family are still here in Texas taking care of the usual stuff. Think Grayson is the stable anchor for the Ostand family because he is at the house taking care of all the dogs and other stuff. Reece is probably at his apartment with his humongous Russian Blue sitting on his face to get him out of bed—how about that as a wake-up call!  Lance sent a video of the Ft. Worth police department advertising for recruits. It was hilarious. They definitely have a car salesman’s approach to “selling” their job openings. Thinking the old woman could go apply to ride one or more of their horses out on the streets of Ft. Worth. Lance agreed that we did not need to tell them about the back surgery. Ahem.

Really don’t know much except to gripe that Walmart now has TWO—count them carefully—actual check stands for those who do not want to use the self-service checkouts. I stood in a short line behind a couple who were driving those little cart things. Helped the lady find her credit card after she dropped it. It fell into the side pocket of her purse. Whew! Anyway, almost wish Walmart would take this new situation and chew on it a little bit before they swallow. It is totally unnecessary! Much prefer checkers who can help and talk to us. Even Market Street has some really lax sackers who need their butts kicked, but at least they still have checkers! Oh well. Doesn’t do a lot of good to gripe. Not that it will stop me!

Let us pray for peace, pray for those who are in bad situations, and pray for those who don’t realize that God is in control. May our lives be filled with the love that He has given us.

Rest well. You are loved.
