Friday’s Rumbles.
Ah, sweet, cooler air outside to enjoy this day is just
perfect! Got down to Patty’s place this morning and watched the two littles
running around trying to find the best places for sniffing, digging, and
otherwise making messes. They love being able to run around out in the pasture
to the north side of the house. But Patty has to keep a close eye on them. We
never feel totally sure that a big cat (cougar) or coyote won’t come out of the
brush and pick one off. The bobcats don’t usually mess around in the daytime,
but even a big raccoon could take one of the dogs. Had one out in front of my
house the other night that Thompson would have thoroughly enjoyed chewing on.
Only thing that bothers me is that those creatures are vicious and carry
diseases. Anyway, it made me wonder if that was what got into the hens’ coop to
get Rusty Lady.
Had arranged to meet Connie at Kohl’s to look for some
over-the-shoulder-boulder holders. Found three that were comfortable enough to
purchase. Have already washed them—yes, paranoid about bugs from overseas or
whatever. Anyway, such things are expensive. Like everything! Then we went to
Jimmy’s Egg on the corner of Maplewood and Midwestern Parkway. They have a meeting
room that will hold up to 50. Meant to ask what it would cost for a group of
twelve or so to eat there, but needed to get to the bank and a few other things.
Will almost bet that it would not cost too much if the hours are right. Not
even sure what their hours of service happen to be. Oh well. Not that the Route
66 Group would necessarily want to go there, but it would at least be different
and good food.
Jennifer just called from W. VA. She was telling me about
the fact that the laptop she has been using does not have a number keypad on
the right-hand side. Of course, she constantly needs that number pad, so she
had to be sure she checked her numbers twice because she was not using what we
would have called a ten-key pad. Maybe she will get good at either one. Know
she is fast and accurate with the ten-key side. SO glad she has the head for
this type of business. And she knows how to make it clear to those who are behind
in their payments that they will either pay or not receive further materials!
She just needs a black cape and pointed hat while working. Giggling!
Discovered something interesting. The lady who did my
massage the other day stuck her elbow in the big muscle on my hip and leaned
into it. Now my feet do not feel as tingly!! If this means that the muscle is
causing tension on those nerves, then a massage once or twice a month will
definitely be worth it! We will see how long it lasts.
Still working on a series of books by Steven Higgs. This is
the Patricia Fisher series about a woman who discovered her husband cheating on
her with her best friend. Her reaction is completely different from what mine
would have been. Neither one of them would have been able to walk when the old
woman got through with them! Whoop @ss! No excuse for cheating in my
estimation! But at least she did not go to jail for her reaction and she cleaned
out their joint bank accounts. All kinds of ways to make a point.
Got one nice egg from a Black-laced Wyandotte today (Dolly
Parton). Petted her and bragged on her. She was proud of herself. Only hen out
there cackling! Be glad when the others get their acts together and start
filling up those nests again.
Need to get my number one oldest child to come up maybe
next weekend to put a couple of sheets of plexiglass on the middle coop top to
keep the rain and stuff from getting on the feed and the nests. Would do it
myself, but if the old woman fell, would never hear the end of it! As it is,
every time something comes up that needs –in MY estimation—to be done, a little
thing goes on a list for one of the kids to do. The roof of the coop, the
digging out of some area next to the porch to get ready for bulbs, the board
that anchors the front door to the coop that keeps vile critters from getting
inside the coop needing a long screw put in up high, and a few more things that
are either too heavy or which make me wonder about the best approach. Oh well.
This, too, shall pass.
The pictures of the devastation in Florida are just mind
boggling. Jennifer said that she had not seen anything about South Carolina.
THOUGHT that they had posted some pictures of electric trucks coming in to
reestablish the electrical supply, but maybe those were of something else. Not
sure just who among the group on FB would know about SC. Know that it has to be
making folks seriously nervous to have all the piles of trash and refuse just
sitting there on the sides of the road. Someone said that the snakes and
alligators were going bonkers all over the place. Yikes. Guess they got stirred
up along with all the water.
Don’t really know much except that it just keeps seeming to
be more insanity coming out of the WH with talk of nuclear war. Sitting here
shaking my head. The guy across the street reminded me that the Israelites were
in the same country as the Egyptians, yet they did not suffer with fleas,
boils, hail stones, etc. Good point, huh. No guarantee that God will do that
again, but let’s face the facts that God has a tendency to repeat certain
miracles: Elisha healed the waters of Jericho, and he also had his servant put twenty
loaves of barley and full ears of corn before a big crowd of men—with leftovers
after they finished. Remind you of anyone? II Kings 4:42—44.
We will never know for sure what the future will bring each
individual, but GOD KNOWS. Read and understand His love for us.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
