Family Surprises.

Today my nephew Danny Pollard texted me and then brought his family--his wife and youngest son--over to visit a bit. They were here for a reunion for school. Anyway, he brought a box that my dad made when he was working back in the oil field. It was filled with letters that my Granddad Pollard had written home to his family in Traskwood--and one from Uncle Morgan that he had written to Granddad telling him who all in their neighborhood was going to have to go to war. Those who were married and had multiple children were not going to war back then. The letter was written in 1917, so we are talking here about the "Great War" that was meant to end all wars. Fat chance. Daddy's certificate of completion of his training for Battle Tank fighting and Destruction was also in the box. It was issued while he was in Ft. Hood, TX. Think he was up North when he was discharged. Lots of memories in that box. Hoping my grandson Grayson will appreciate the history in there.

Danny also brought a case containing the rolled up prints of Hanan's paintings that his ex-woman friend kept in CA when he came home. Guess the less said about why he did not have them would be best. But Danny kept the one of his melted guitar musician. Dylan kept one, too. Have not unrolled and looked at them yet. Going to wait until the old woman is feeling better.

Sterling (brother) called and talked to me about the memory box and what his memories of Illinois were. It is a wonder my parents made it at all back then. Life was hard on them. He remembered being in a train and seeing the little tiny cars down below. He asked my parents if he could have one of those toys. It still makes him laugh to think about how difficult it was for him to understand that they were real cars but in the distance.

Just finished putting up my girls. Talked to my friend BillyeRuth today. We are trying to figure something out for getting them to her home. Enjoy visiting with her so much! But she told me a rattler got her dog. It took her and another lady to get a man to come dig a hole big enough for the dog. Poor critter. So now she is without a dog. She was talking about getting me some branches from her brush pile and got an ear full about staying away from the brush pile in snake den season! Can just see my little friend our there whipping a snake! Paducah has a mighty little feisty lady who lives outside their town.

Been sneezing again. Something is in the air that made the sun look hazy tonight. My guess is that the pollen is stirred up. Certainly could use a rain.

Sharon sent me word that her sister-in-law in the Southwest hospital will be coming home in a couple of days. Felt like clapping my hands! All the crud that can happen to us can often be relieved in nothing flat when a good hospital gives patients the treatment and attention they need. We are blessed in Texas to have some good ones.

Jennifer's youngest was threatening me the other evening: "Know where you live and am not afraid to come and give you hugs!" That is the kind of threat that every grandmother should get! Love my kids!

Had some broccoli, squash, onion, and salmon stuff for supper. The dogs begged, but they only got a bite each. Mean ol' woman. Will probably still be tasting it tomorrow!

Just as dumb as they come today, but still know that the Zondervan Expanded Concordance does not just jump out there and give me answers despite looking something up three different ways. The Strong's is in such tiny print that it might as well not even be in my bookcase. Had to put a strong light on as it was. But at least reading through Revelation again did not hurt anything. NOT that it was where the scripture looked for was expected to be. sigh My memory is just not very good. Oh well. It could be worse.

Hope all of you stay well, stay rested, and find joy in life. You are loved.
