Haven't been to the mall in ages--not at all this year, actually. But today there was a line of people from the west end all the way to the Penney's court. Couples stood together, but otherwise we were all six feet apart and not doing much talking. It was a quiet wait for the most part. The wife of the man in front of me took the opportunity to do some window shopping. But she was from the Philippines and can't vote here yet. So most of us slowly made our way to the table set up to determine our eligibility for voting and then got it done. Took one picture of the line, but it did not show up the way it was stretched out. Two hours out of my life to try to help our nation keep the best president we have ever had. The last time my vote for him was necessary because there simply was no other choice. Nothing has changed about THAT, but it seems to me that President Trump has done what he said he would do. He is trying to get our country back to work and back to producing the goods we need by having them made in America. Can't fault him for that, for sure! This virus has been a mess, of course, but even that has not stopped us from realizing that we need to make some changes to make our country work better.
The man in front of me was saying that he felt that the media had been making heroes out of criminals and causing folks to lose the common sense to obey laws. Carry a big stick to a gathering and see if a person does not end up using it. Mace, guns, rocks, fire bombs. Not exactly the sort of thing we need to show our love for fellow man. We don't need to shout at anyone to get our point across. Shouting is intimidating and abusive. Period.
Just got off the phone with BillyeRuth and got to laugh pretty good. Honestly! She is a mess and a half! She wanted to know when the next ten would be delivered. RIGHT~! And she emptied her ice box--that's fridge to you young pups--and was going to give her scraps to the girls. Told her to avoid spinach. Don't remember why, but chickens should not be given spinach. So she gave them nests which they disassembled and learned that my girls are heavy drinkers and eaters! Had to ask if her girls were happier without those roosters beating up on them. She said it was SO quiet out there. No crowing all day and night! But we were comparing notes on being flogged, and she said those two had left scars on her. ARGH!!
Have an appointment to get my hair cut in the morning. Getting this hair out of my face should be a relief. It's over my eyebrows and down in my eyes! Thought about getting a barber to do it in the mall, but the haircuts that guy was giving had words cut into the guys' scalps! That would just be a bit much. Oh well. Spa Bella and their ladies will do it up just fine.
Went to Pioneer today and ate all by myself, but the meal was good and the dessert was just as good. Not too expensive for one meal that lasts all day. Still don't feel hungry. But then, a little ice cream has been consumed since then. ahem
Have to get out the memory box again tonight and find Uncle Morgan's letter so it can be sent to John Pollard, his son. Uncle Morgan was my favorite person in the whole world back in my childhood. He always smelled like pipe tobacco and never smoked in the house. But he was so much like Granddad Pollard, his big brother. Morgan was only seven when he wrote this letter to Granddad. But then, Granddad was all of 17! Men grew up back then in those times knowing that they had to take care of themselves and their families. It had to have been hard.
My order from Amazon was on the front porch yesterday, so my coffee was good and strong this morning. Yuban is good stuff, Maynard! Always look forward to that first cup of coffee. Have to limit it to one or two, so it better be right the first time!
May you all find something in this world God has given us to appreciate that will make you smile or laugh. It feels so good to know: you are loved.
