Weather Watchin'.

So the high tomorrow is supposed to be 66 degrees. Not bad. If the wind is not blowing a gale, it will be fine. Got the water bowls filled and placed, so now it is just a matter of feeding a bit of grain when the girls get up tomorrow and sometime during the day again. Cold weather hurts, but it is hardly as bad to live with as the kind of heat we sometimes have. Either way, we desperately need rain again. Not that the grass is suffering that much, but would prefer it to be green and not dry enough to burn. Have a pretty healthy fear of burning stuff.

Don't really know much today. Have been quiet and still mostly. Sylvia has been very clingy for some reason. It might be the wind or some kind of sounds that aren't in my level of hearing. Dogs not only can smell things we can't, they can hear stuff that does not even register for us. Thompson is nearly always calm about things--well, unless someone comes to the door or drives up out front. Sylvia is never calm about much of anything different. She gets restless and lets me know something is bothering her, and then she gets right up next to me or in my lap. And she is NOT a small dog comparatively. Oh well.

The hens got on a laying spree today and filled up the nests in the coop. Not sure why, but they only had two or three in the workshop. It seems so strange not to have white eggs out there, but only one hen lays white eggs now. Athena is the oldest hen on the hill. Not the loudest by any means, however. One of the Wyandottes is a screamer! Noisiest hen ever!

Got a voice message from Charlie Anderson today on messenger. He said he thought they were going to take him down to the ER for packed blood cells so he could get more oxygen to his body. Not sure exactly why that would work unless he simply is not getting enough oxygen. He had said something about his levels being too low. Think that is the main problem with Covid. So hope he gets through this quickly and easily. May God bless him.

Haven't been on FB much today. Everything being said has a tendency to tick me off. Doesn't take much. Good thing the "news" is never turned on in this house!

Finished another book and started one about a woman who trains service dogs for those with PTSD. That would really be a hard job because one would have to love the dogs and then have to give them up. But it is a good story anyway. It is interesting to learn a little bit about those dogs, too. The manner in which they work is to prevent their person from being surprised by someone coming up on them. They put their body between their person and anyone coming near them. That has to be nerve wracking in certain situations. But most folks with PTSD don't go anywhere there are crowds. It is just too much stress. Can't imagine how all these soldiers--and police officers, firemen, EMTs, etc.--can deal with life after being severely traumatized. It is a wonder more folks from the first two wars were not left with more than a determination of "shell shocked."

Reading all the time gives me more lessons in things never otherwise learned. Don't know how people can just live without learning things all the time. Don't honestly think TV is very instructive, but maybe that is just my opinion. Lots of things out there in this world are of little concern to me that may prove very instructive to others.

Made some "mac and cheese" today that was definitely different. It was truffle and porcini mushroom with added turkey meat that had been seasoned. Turned out very good. Only problem was the amount that someone ate. sigh

Just talked to John Pollard, Lance, and Jennifer. All three calls managed to come in at the same time. So, know little to nothing to talk about with anyone. John told me about some of their family that had contracted Covid. One of my kids told me about Bradford pears being such lousy trees cause they break so easily, and one kid gave me an OTP number for an account. Such is life. Always something to do.

May each of you rest well and find joy in whatever you decide to do. You are loved.
