Cooking for Myself!
Picked up groceries this morning—letting them pick up stuff
off the shelves and load it into my truck. Came home and put two roasts in the
oven. Mighty tasty eating. Sliced up some pieces to put in Ziplock bags and had
some for din-upper. Also, cooked some parmesan cauliflower. Anyway, it was nice
to have hot food that tasted good. Tomorrow will make some gravy from the
drippings from the meat. Here’s hoping my memory will serve me well so it turns
out good and not like school paste.
United’s person substituted one thing that didn’t really
work. They have some “bones” that have beef and pork hide in them. Not going to
happen. Have heard horror stories of dogs eating hide and getting all stopped
up with it. The dogs had some of the fat from the roasts, so that had to do for
a tasty treat.
Have not turned on the computer today and Patty told me it
was just as well. Another plane accident happened. So very sad. We simply don’t
realize how much danger is out there just on the highways when compared to the
airways. But when a plane goes down, it is not a small thing that is isolated
to only a few families. Guess all we can do is pray for those families and
whoever needed to direct their flights.
Talked to Sterling today, and we decided that dreams are
important or maybe at least significant for our happiness. He will be 80 in
June. Our parents and grandparents all made it to 85 or there about. All I can
do is pray for his health and happiness. He knows his sister will never leave
Texas, but he is relatively happy where he is. And the same is true for me.
Getting to talk to him and love him is about the best we can ask for right now.
We remember some of the same things, but differently. Memories are never the same
with any two people, but are shadows of what has gone before in our lives. If
we had known then what we know now, would our lives have been different? Guess
it really doesn’t matter. God set the times for our lives before we were ever
conceived and put before us what He expects us to do with the life He gave us. About
the best thing we can do is thank Him daily for life and the love He has given
us. My prayer is that my heart will be right in line with what He wants from
me. And then let my heart be filled with love for Him and for my brothers and
sisters.
Patty told me that she saw a free Bible course offered by
Liberty University—deeply Southern Baptist started by Falwell and then later
his son who is no longer with them. Think it might be worth looking into, so,
who knows, maybe one of these days some of the Word will cling better to the
old woman’s memory.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
