Laughing at Forecasts.
By this coming Sunday, we may have freezing weather again.
And somehow it seemed as if it were about to get warmer. So much for what “seemed”
to be! Dear Hearts, it is cold outside!
Ran an errand for Patty and then went to the doctor’s office
for blood work and was back to Patty’s place before noon. No slacking this
morning, at least. She had cleaned out a linen closet and another closet and had
big plastic bags of towels, blankets, dog beds, harnesses, and cute dog
clothes. Sent a message to Katy Brooks so she would know this stuff is here and
ready to go. Patty suggested that some of the cute little dog dresses could be
sold on eBay to help feed the dogs. She and Donny got the dogs when they were
about six months old, and she had bought cute things before they were even
grown, so they got too big for the things. Oh well.
Not sure if it is the “weather knee” or the “weather back”
that is causing me more pain, but a couple of pain pills helped considerably.
May have to talk to Dr. B about getting a prescription sent to the online
pharmacy so that they come in the mail. SO much easier for me—and cheaper. Honestly
did not think the pills were doing any good at all, but took two at the same
time and felt much better.
Cooked two big whole chickens in the roaster yesterday and
deboned them today. Put some up in the freezer for the dogs and some up there
for me. Then made a broccoli, rice, cheese, and chicken casserole. Not bad! Could
have used more veggies, but still. But then veggies are my favorite food.
Took a shower this morning and felt as if it were a totally
new shower head or something. Talk about water pressure! That was so very nice.
Great plumbing!
Gave the dogs their Bravecto this morning. They only have to
have it every three months, but it certainly does make a big difference in how
they react to stuff like mosquitoes and fleas—the fleas simply don’t bite them.
And they stay in the house most of the time when the mosquitoes are out. And
yes, my house smells as if a dog or two live here.
Think it is more necessary than ever that we pray for the
children and adults who are being devastated by different forms of cancer. Raye
(granddaughter of my friend Diann Dennis) may lose her vision, my nephew Danny
(59) is not a child, but the leukemia as made him a weak as a child, Mariellen
Rose has started another round of chemo for leukemia, and Tami Yonts is losing
more of her digestive tract to the stupid cancer. May God bless these and all
of us. SO many things in our food, in the water, in everything we come in
contact with have caused diseases of one kind or another. Wish we could all be
gardeners who could grow our own food.
It still makes me almost ill to read any headlines, so it is
just easier to hide my head in a good book or in THE good book. God knows that
some of us can only deal with so much stress. It is not as if we don’t care; it
is simply overwhelming to know about all the fighting, fury, evil, and horrors
around us. May God bless us with peace—individually and as a nation.
Trying to think of something very positive to leave with
you: Have been enjoying stories and examples of serving by J. John and Trent
Tribe. Funny how little things in our lives can make such a difference in the
lives of others. Always be willing to do something for others, even if it feels
like a very small thing.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
