Rain and Colder Weather.
Had to find the dogs’ Thunder Shirts this morning as the
thunder shook the house. Those are SO much easier to get on them than their
sweaters with holes for their legs. Sylvia would really like to bite me if she
thought she could get by with it when her legs are picked up and slipped
through the holes. Thompson doesn’t like it, but he is so sweet that he just
grumbles a bit. Meanwhile, we got a lovely rain for which to be very thankful.
It may not have been enough to show in the area lakes or the cattle ponds, but
it is better than blowing dust any day!
Spoke with Sterling. They slept through the wild weather and
anything that might have swept them away in the night. Their two dogs might
have been more clingy than usual, but at least they got a good night’s sleep.
Not all of Arkansas was that peaceful last night. In fact, the way the radar
appeared, much of this mess swept through the different states and took homes,
barns, and whatever was in its path. May God bless those in these storms.
The pair of ducks in the back yard are not all that
concerned when Thompson goes after them, but they have not got up the nerve to
try to eat with the hens yet either. They waddle around in the deep geranium
looking clover and then finally take to wing about five feet from Thompson when
he heads toward them. Each year they come back and try to settle in my yard,
but each year Thompson tries to get them to go away.
Saturday should be interesting. Rachel and Damien are coming
up to see if they can help Rylan with his car. We should all be getting
together for lunch if all goes well. Anyway, the Old Woman looks forward to
seeing them together.
Noticed that the dogs were barking at a woman walking around
over on the Miranda property on N. Church Street. Thinking it is the young
woman who came over the past summer and needed someone to talk to about her
situation. Since Rose Street (psychiatric clinic) closed, many folks who needed
help are probably not getting any help at all. Without health insurance, those
who truly need help are up that famous creek. Being able to see a doctor or
specialist when necessary is one of the things that makes life bearable for
many families. I hate to see that lost in the shuffle when many of these
agencies are closed.
Reading about the stupid programs—like identifying gay
farmers—that our government has financed, it is understandable that some of the
programs should never have been funded in the first place. Right now, we are entering
an economic depression or recession. My parents told us that money was so scarce
when they were young that they simply had no money to buy anything at
all. Right now, President Trump is doing his best to keep us from going under
financially. And these programs that have bilked America for billions were not
his fault. We need to see to it that congressmen/women not be able to line
their pockets by instigating unreasonable programs and remaining in office for
multiple terms in order to benefit themselves.
My sister-by-another-mother, Sharon Dickerson, has asked for
prayers for her son who was falsely accused of molesting his step daughter. The
girl has recanted more than once, but MacGregor is still in jail. A hearing is
coming up this next week, but right now the bail is in the millions. Go figure!
Sometimes it infuriates me to hear how such situations occur and an innocent
person ends up in jail—or even prison—because of false testimony. How does one
prove one did NOT do something?
Please remember to pray for Tami Yonts. Her surgery is
tomorrow if my understanding is correct. Cancer is the most horrible disease
out there in some ways. About the only thing that is worse is Alzheimer’s. That
one slowly hurts an entire family.
Let us also remember those who are being affected by the
earthquakes in Asia. It’s not like anyone can just sit back and not be affected
when entire cities are shaken to the ground. Let us ask God for His mercy on
these people.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
