Sheet Changing Surprises!
Around 6:30 yesterday, Patty called and asked me to come get
the squirrel out of her sheets. Roxie caught a young squirrel, but at least she
did not gut it! Bleah. Went down there and stripped the sheets off the bed and
put on some quilts until Patty could get her sheets washed and ready to put
back on the bed. Thought about that this morning while changing the sheets and
blankets on my bed. SO thankful that the dogs leave their captures outside! Our
old cat used to bring in whatever was left after he got through with it, but at
least he just left things under the kitchen table and not on the furniture.
Went to see Dava at Spa Bella this morning. OH!! My back
feels SO much better. Will undoubtedly be sore as a pup tomorrow, but for now
the knots in my hips and between my shoulders are better. Have an ice pack on
my back while sitting here in my desk chair.
While waiting for Dava to get there, the old woman saw a
book called Beyond the Banks of Frog Creek. My grandmother Pollard grew
up around Byers on a place called Frog Creek, so I am almost willing to bet
that the author, Marjorie Hodgson Parker, lives on the same creek. The book’s
under title is “40 days of devotions for times of painful change.” We have all
seen at least 40 days like that if we get past the stage where gray hair
becomes the norm for us. Dava said her husband is a bit younger than she is. He
pressure washed the patio and stuff out back the other day and could not imagine
why he was hurting so the next day. When Dava pointed out that he used muscles
that he did not normally use, he told her that he did not hurt like that the
last time he hosed down the patio area. She reminded him that it had been a year
since then! Each year becomes an adventure in aches and pains, Dear Hearts!
Although it amazed me that it happened this way, all four of
the “gold” sex link hens got in the long coop last night. Now they have food, treats,
and water in there that they don’t have to share with any other hens. Here’s
hoping that the extra goodies will help their egg shells to be less fragile.
Have not gone in there yet to see where they decided to lay or IF they even
laid eggs yet, but it might show me if there is more than one egg that is likely
to break. One broken egg can mess up several others so that they have to be
washed—and then refrigerated.
Went to United specifically to pick up cabbage, and then
left the store without it! Ditzy! Oh well. The hens in the coop that can’t get
out into the yard will need something extra to eat plus some grit. It’s always
something that needs thought and planning—both of which seem to become less
likely as the old woman ages!
It does seem to me that there is hardly any situation in
which someone just like us has had—or is having—the same issues. Let’s face it,
problems are common to mankind. Some problems are self-induced and others come
with the territory—just part of being human. Today Michelle Malay said that
getting over this surgery for her new knee is really much rougher than the one
for her left knee. At the same time, Mariellen Rose said that despite the fact
that she is home now, she has to learn to walk again because of the chemo
therapy for the leukemia. It really is hard to be human and susceptible to the
diseases of this world. We are promised that our lives won’t always be like
this. Let us pray for those whose lives are so very hard due to illnesses.
It seems the weather is still swinging wildly down the
middle of the country. Floods in one state and near drought right here in
Central North Texas! And then look at the temps! It may get down to 34 degrees
this week at night!! Guess we won’t need the AC for a little bit at least! But
the flooding means that we need to be praying for those who are getting the
excess rain. Fires in NC and floods in Kansas! Wow! May God bless us all and
keep us safe.
Meanwhile, we still need to pray for Israel and for our own
president that he will make good decisions for the benefit of all our citizens.
It has to be terribly easy to goof up something when all the different
departments and agencies have proven to be personal banks for some of the heads
of those agencies. May God guide those who are trying to eliminate malfeasance.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
