Reaching Out to a Friend.
Many years ago, when Lewis and the old woman went to Tucson
for a church meeting, we met the Arguin family staying at the same inn as we
were. We really liked them both. Over the years, Henrietta and her husband
lived in Altadena, CA. Henrietta lost her husband some years ago, but we stayed
in contact on FB after some time had passed. Today we exchanged phone numbers
and had a nice chat. She lost her home in the fires there in CA, and probably a
year from now she will be leaving to live in Tennessee. At least she and her
family plan to visit TN this summer to see what they think of it. It is never
going to be the same living with her children as it was to live in her own
house, but at least they get along well enough to share their home with her. Not
sure that would work for me, at least not by choice, but if one has no other
choice, sometimes we do what is necessary to adapt. She is considerably older
than this old woman, so we never know how things will be in a year, two years,
five, ten or whatever time we have. The best part for me is that we can talk to
each other now and understand some of the same difficulties that have come up
in our lives. God is always good to us.
Still reading and enjoying Marjorie Parker’s Beyond the
Banks of Frog Creek. It is billed as being 40 days of devotions for times
of painful change. Boy! We all need some of those helpers at times, and it
would be wonderful to think that they could be limited to just forty times!!
Would like to meet this lady and wonder if she still lives on Frog Creek. That
has to be near Byers, TX.
Dr. Blackwell stopped by today to pick up eggs and came in
to visit for a few minutes. We talked about the fact that she does not watch
much TV either. She enjoys reading. It seems strange to me that someone much
younger than the old woman would enjoy reading just as much as she does. Don’t
know why that should surprise me since Jennifer loves to read as well. Honestly,
my bookcases are almost empty compared to what they used to hold, but the
Kindle (notebook) is so much easier to read. The size of the font is backlit
and much easier to adjust for my eyes. That is the only problem that reading
the Torah has given to me so far in that the font is laid out so broad and
small. Oh well. At least it is not like reading right to left!!
Had thought about cleaning the living room and kitchen floors
today until letting the dogs in and out proved that it would be an exercise in
futility. Dog foot prints may not be permanent, but they certainly return
quickly enough to BE permanent!
It actually looks as if we might have snow one day this next
week with the temps going down to 32. So, tomorrow the old woman needs to
remember to cover the faucet out front and find the cover for the one in the
back. Certainly, don’t want to deal with frozen pipes! Patty asked me this
morning if we had had enough rain to satisfy me. Told her that more was very
welcome so that the lakes could be filled and we could avoid rationing this
summer. Really need to put the truck out from under the carport so it will get
the dirt washed off. My luck it would hail!
Looking forward to seeing Rylan, Rachel, and Damien
tomorrow. Will probably go to Chicken Express to bring home enough food to feed
them. Leftovers never last long even if it seems like too much food. Just love
to see my grands.
Let us pray for President Trump and the decisions he has to
make. Let us ask that God continue to bless this country.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
