Rock in a Sock.

 Rock in a Sock.

Conversations in this house today have been pretty strange and funny. At one point we talked about why we all carry a knife to cut things. Handed my pocketknife to Rylan so he could cut a thread that had snagged on his pants. It is just natural to me to carry a knife and have done so since having a pocket on my pants. Rachel strongly declared that designers need to be much more conscious of women’s need for pockets. Damien just smiled and laughed at our fond discussion of pockets. Eventually we got to the idea of knives and guns not being permitted at the court house or some other places. Rylan laughed and said we could always carry a rock in a sock. Oh boy! That started the idea of putting a rock in a sock in our hand bags! Yes, it has been an interesting day.

The crazy weather included one very large hail storm that left behind shredded trees and plenty of banged up things out of doors. Guess we will all be calling insurance adjusters to come out and check the roof on each house. My truck might need to be washed, but at least it was under the carport during the hail. The window in the top of that truck was $1 thousand when we had to get it replaced, but that was when it was still under warranty. No sense leaving it out to get it broken.

Have a pair of ducks that someone needs to take home with them if they could be caught. The hen gets in the water bowls and plays until the water it totally nasty. Have got to come up with some kind of idea of how to keep her from going bathing in their water! Thompson runs them off when he is told to do so, but they just come right back again. Some critters—like doves and grackles—just insist on making things dirty or getting into the feed. These ducks do both.

Damien and Rachel came up this morning and went over to get Rylan. His car needed a new starter, and Damien is pretty good with mechanical stuff. Anyway, even though it was raining and cold, Damien got the thing put on Rylan’s car so that it works now. Damien reminds me of Lewis in some ways. Designers don’t ever have to work on the things that they think will be easy to install. Damien doesn’t use the same language that Lewis used, but the thoughts are very similar.

The kids brought food from some Hawaiian place. It actually costs less than when the old woman goes to Chicken Express. Anyway, was glad to have them here for lunch and sent some eggs home with the granddaughter. Rylan already had plenty of these eggs at his place. Think the next batch will have to go to Maggie and David. The hens are doing a pretty good job of laying right now. Only have the one hen that has that weak shell. Really need to make myself separate her from the rest so that she gets all the feed she needs. Maybe tomorrow. If it gets warmer. Sigh.

Diann Dennis, the grandmother of the little girl Raye who had cancer in her eyes, posted pictures of her little village and the cities around her in Northeast Arkansas. They have bridges and roads flooded and wiped off the map. Flooding is so hard on folks because if it does not take the house out, it leaves behind mud up to the ceilings. Just unlivable anyway!

Let us pray for those who have been affected by the weather across this nation: freezing rain, too much rain, no electricity, washed out bridges, and roads no longer available. We might have received enough rain in the past two days to help us out of the drought situation, but some of those in East and South Texas have had to deal with flooding. All we can do is ask God to help those who can’t help themselves.

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
