A New Hot Week.

 A New Hot Week.

If the forecast is anywhere near accurate, this week is predicted to be mighty hot. Still not as hot as we have seen it when the temperature gauges went well over 110 degrees some years ago, but still mighty uncomfortable. Hate to think what the hurricanes and tropical storms are doing to Florida and the Gulf Coast, but those storms generally bring cooler temps up this direction—or at least a little steam!

Took a bucket to dip into the dog trough to throw water on the deck so it would drip down to the ground underneath. The hens came bursting out and then went right back under there as soon as the water stopped hitting the deck. They are nobody’s dummies! Have a fountain made of some kind of plastic in a deep pan out there that the wild birds can drink out of but not bathe in. That is working fairly well, too. Can’t believe the girls are still laying eggs in this heat!

The technician at Family Dentistry got the right spot on the upper plate whittled down. Fairly comfortable chewing now! Science and technology can be pretty wonderful for some of us. Now if only this stupid knee would just behave itself. Tried a knee brace and thought strangling was probably closer to what it was doing as opposed to “bracing.” Oh well. Still trying not to do a lot of walking, but it simply is not possible to have critters and not do a lot of walking. Unloading the feed the other day was not exactly fun either. One sack ripped and dumped a bunch on the floor. Still have not got that mess cleaned up! Laziness, maybe.

Got the license renewal for my truck the other day. Patty reminded me that it has to be inspected before the license can be renewed. But at least this is the last time for the inspection to have to be done. Know that at least one other state—Arkansas—does not require inspections. Not sure that is such a good idea, but who knows. Have seen those old chicken trucks crawling up the sides of the mountains and trying to go down the steep hills and worried that their brakes might not be working. It reminds me that so many people these days get ONE month’s liability insurance and then cancel the insurance. Not that it matters if someone runs plum over your vehicle and just keeps going! Seems like hit and runs are becoming more common! Argh!

Just stepped out on the front porch to take some eggs to the end of the sidewalk to meet Mr. Miranda. The mosquitoes tried to eat my legs off right below my kneecaps!!! Dadgumitall! At least his wife is back home from the hospital and maybe the shingles will not make her totally miserable like they have my brother!

The neighbors across the street were supposed to have their AC repaired this week, but keep getting put off! This is a horrible time of the year to not have the AC working!! Please pray for them. They also have a daughter whose pulmonary artery may have some leakage. Let us pray for her as well.

We have so many things to pray about right now. Our country is either about to burn up with forest fires, flood out and blow away with hurricanes, or otherwise find miserable situations to endure. And on top of all that, schools will be opening soon. Let us ask God to protect all the children, teachers, bus drivers, parents, and everyone involved! May God bless this nation!

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
