Hoe, Hoe, Hoe!
The hoe is sharp enough to cut the sticker weeds out of the
dirt! Roger did a good job of getting it sharp, so this morning some of the bad
khaki weeds and grass burrs got hoed out of the yard while it was still only 80
degrees outside. It wasn’t much after that time when it was impossible to see
for all the sweat rolling off my face. Even had to put my glasses in the side pocket
of my pants! Perspiration is the only form of moisture out there in the yard
since we have not had any precipitation lately. Not that the humidity has
evaporated completely. Sigh. Dear Hearts, it is August in Texas!
Have seen a couple of advertisements on FB about what
hormones do for a woman to keep her joints from hurting. Then today Jennifer
told me that her OBGYN said the same thing. Insurances will pay for a man to be
given testosterone, but none of the insurances will pay for women to have the
hormones they need. Her opinion is that the rules are made by men for men, definitely
not for women! Sitting here nodding my head. The stuff for women has to be
formulated—mixed to the needs of the patient. Men need one hormone in
varying levels. Anyway, it made me consider what doctors around would even
prescribe hormones for women. Years ago, my doctor did prescribe them, but the
companies stopped making the injectable dosages. The patches were made with
plastic which is a total mess for anyone who is allergic to plastic. Hmm. Will
have to talk to my favorite doctor about this.
Other than doing that bit of weeding this morning, this old
woman has accomplished exactly diddly squat today! Read another book and played
with these two dogs, and did the usual stuff with the hens and their needs. The
water sprayed under the deck makes a big difference in how it feels around that
area, but just a few steps away from the deck is just as hot as a two-dollar
pistol! Keep putting water in the two little fountains to keep the wild birds
from drinking up or splashing out all the hens’ water, but it has to be done three
or four times a day. The amount of feed and the trouble they cause around the
coops is not all that terrible, but sometimes it certainly does irritate me to
feel that wild birds get the best end of the deal on this hill. At least the
ducks have not been back to get in the water trough lately.
Trying to not look at anything on the news keeps me dumb and
happier, so we can bet that the weather and other things have been affecting
the entire nation. We can just pray for God’s blessings on this nation and its
people. He knows who needs what much better than we do. The same goes for the
individual problems that we have. We ask and He provides. We may not always
like the answers, but you can bet His answers are for the best.
Let us always be willing to be loving toward others. Give of
His grace in every answer as it is shared with us.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
