Size Matters.
Thinking today about how big God is. Having lived in Texas
all my life, it doesn’t surprise me when things blow harder, rain deeper, or
rush faster than anywhere else in the world. No proof, mind you, but it just
feels right to think that things happen bigger in Texas than anywhere else.
Some of the pictures online show beautiful mountains, oceans
of ice, forests encompassing the circumference of the world, but even if the
depths of the oceans were plumbed and raised to the surface—well, someday those
won’t even exist—but that is by God’s design, no sense in questioning His way
of doing things. The point of it is that nothing we can conceive of in this
world is as big as God and His love. Oh, the stars in galaxies near and far don’t
prove His stretch of thinking. Men have always looked to the heavens above to
try to think about God. But He simply tells us that we have no ability to
imagine the length, breadth, height, or any other measure in our concepts of
Him.
Even time, as it wimples and whirls upon itself, cannot
represent the way God’s design is laid out. Time slows down every so often. And
then it catches up again. But it can’t even begin to outline the energy or the
strength of God.
How can we imagine something with our finite imaginations
that can totally encompass all things, all emotions, all designs? HE has the
answers. His size matters, even though we cannot conceive such an immensity.
The same is true of His love. May His light shine and glow from us as we become
His children each day. May we grow into His love.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
