Baked Bodies!
See the men working down on the road below the house and
feel amazed that they can stand on that hot, black tar and keep working! HOW
can they stand it? Nothing outside is the least bit cool. The walkway stones
are like fireplace bricks! The gauge on the back deck says 115 degrees. Now
that may not be anyone’s official numbers, but Dear Hearts, who needs “official”
when everything out there is purely sizzling!
Michelle Malay just left after coming somewhat later than
she had intended. Only one pharmacy in town currently carries her RA meds
despite the fact that the other United Pharmacy had all her other meds. Good
grief. Apparently, the government and whatever else has put a filter on who can
get what in drugs right now. Why there is a deficit is beyond me, but just have
to feel thankful that the few needed around here do not include any heavy duty,
limited drugs. She was telling me that taking all four of her hound dogs to see
the vet is terribly expensive. And folks wonder why people don’t feel that they
can adopt dogs! Decent dog food is very expensive, and then the flea and other
meds are not cheap either!
My son was startled by the price of my electric bill--$92
this month. But that Energy Ogre keeps my bill at a decent level so far. My
water bill went up, but that can’t be surprising when the stinking wild birds
use the chicken bowls for bird baths! Still think a baby pool might be better
to keep the wild birds out of the little chicken bowls. Who knows. The water
bowl out front has to be refilled every day. It is dry every afternoon.
Saw that another man came to work on the AC for the family across
the street. Can’t imagine not having AC in this mess. Be like trying to make it
through a blizzard without any heat! Hope that it gets repaired quickly.
Have one of those little coolers that fit on the desk and
spews out a mist to help things stay cool. It only works when it feels like it.
Oh well. Think another one is out in the workshop, so will look this evening
when it is time to put the hens up. Staying in ONE room to stay cool does work,
even if it feels a little restricted. Michelle says that cold weather helps her
much more than hot weather. Sitting here nodding my head. This heat is a bit
much.
Other than griping about the heat and the price of whatever,
it amazes me to see how many people are letting us know on FB or wherever that
they trust in God to take care of the horrors of this world. Right now, despite
how it has almost always felt wrong not to vote, it seems to me that it would
be simpler to leave the details up to God. At least HE can be trusted to do
what is best for His plans. Meanwhile, my job has to be restricted to giving
understanding and love to others. That can be hard enough, but surely it is the
least of what God would expect of us.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
