One of the Barred Rock pullets began laying today. It was an itsy bitsy egg--about the size of a quail egg. Won't put it in an egg carton for anyone. Someone might think we had been out there raiding the sparrow nests!
Am ready for some sunshine! It may rain tomorrow, but the sunshine is not scheduled to return until NEXT Tuesday. sigh. Have a light that will be set up on my desk the rest of the week to just be sure that my mind is on sunshine whether or not we actually have any. Light boxes are supposed to help anyone who needs extra sunlight during this time of the year. Don't know how people in overcast and grey countries survive!
The fifty stakes came today in the mail, but putting them out in the fence line probably won't happen until the weather is a bit better. Meanwhile will just have to keep an eye on my girls and let the dogs do their work around the place.
Found a stupid shirt in the driveway today. Haven't figured that one out unless it blew out of the trash truck that came today. Guess that is possible. Will probably just hang it on the fence next to the neighbor's place where the little boy lives. His name is Caleb. This is a size seven, so it may be too small for him--which may be why it could have been in the trash. But it is in really good shape. Strange, just strange.--Just handed it over the fence to Caleb, but did not bother to ask him why it was in my driveway. Hmm.
Maggie Sewell came and got eggs today. Did not go out to visit with her but just handed her some eggs and went back to the house. She suggested getting tested, but I don't feel like going anywhere anyway. Those stupid tests are not necessarily accurate anyway. Although, the one Connie's friend took was positive, and Connie got the stupid virus from her. But her friend barely had any symptoms at all. Not Connie. She was one sick puppy. At least she is much better now.
Made vegetable soup today. It had roast, carrots, peppers, beans, broccoli, and other stuff in it along with chunks of roast beef. Could have put some beef bouillon in it, but just didn't. Did not really want anything very salty. Just trying to get plenty of fluids right now.
My granddaughter called me today to talk while she was doing the last mile of her three-mile run. She walked the last mile to talk to me. Normally her friend goes with her, but today she was by herself. I would not let her go until she was in her car and had the engine on. Her mom had her on location, but it still makes me nervous when she is by herself. Thinking her brother could have used some exercise!
Pretty tired tonight even though have not done doodly poo. Woke up before 5 this morning and could not go back to sleep. That is just nuts! May just take a sleeping pill tonight and see if that helps. Have heard folks who get older sometimes have problems sleeping, but always thought that was because they tend to fall asleep sitting around. Haven't started doing that yet--notice the word YET. argh
Have a book started--well, about half way through--called Polar Vortex. How appropriate! Although this book talks about a plane crash onto an ice field, it still makes me glad that Texas does not usually have anything like 60 to 100 degrees below zero! Can't imagine.
Closed the doors on the coops and noticed that the neighbors are trying to entertain the entire neighborhood with loud music. rolling eyes here Oh well.
Listened to President Trump's farewell message. Love the fact that he pointed out that he was not a politician--neither Democrat nor Republican, but American! He was what we needed to put folks back to work. Oh, plenty of people do not think he did anything right, but this ol' gal is not one of them. Be that as it may, my prayer for him and his family will be for their safety and success in whatever they choose to do in the future. Simply can't imagine how our nation would be right now had he not been elected.
The dogs are looking out the windows trying to see what is out there. More barks. Nothing like it to keep things interesting. They have been really happy with their tennis balls and a firehose toy. They keep trying to sneak the firehose outside. But they know what "put it down" means. No taking it outside! Funny critters. Wondering if BillyeRuth's new dog has its favorite toys yet. She is blessed to get a new dog that will mind her. But then, the dog is blessed to get BR!
Think I hear my Kindle calling me. You all rest well, stay warm, and keep calm. God gives us His grace as a gift. So be thankful while you are at it. You are loved.
