Don't you just LOVE reward points that make a purchase cost less or even nothing! Today Sutherlands "gave" me two 12 ft. dowel rods to use in my hen houses [plus two cases of water]. It just tickles me pink to get to do things like that. Great big smile on my face. Once, when we were remodeling the house and had to buy washer, dryer, fridge, and cook stove all at the same time, we had enough points that Sutherlands charged us $7 for a trailer to pull behind the lawn tractor! Lewis was the one tickled pea green over that one. Anyway, have laughed to myself about folks getting fuel at Market Street for $1 a gallon, but it is the same principle.
Even without sunshine, it has been a pretty nice day. Saw Donny Anderson out and talked to him over the fence. My silly dog--Sylvia--growled at him because he was near me. She is kinda over protective. But the dogs played while the hens sat out by the swing with me. Two of my hens like to swing, well, like attention. They like to be fed from my hand and were looking pretty closely at my fingers. Always have to have that one hen who will peck my fingernails! Not that it hurts, but still. Got the spade fork out and turned over a couple of forks of dirt for them. Plenty of worms out there. Well, fewer now.
The online weather report said that February was going to be warmer--but dryer. Figures. May have to get my seeds in the ground now before the next rain. Maybe tomorrow. Can't wait to see some of these things come up and actually grow up enough to bloom. Love to see the yard blooming.
Removed a bunch of books from my Kindle today. They get cluttered up even if they don't collect dust. They do, at least, say "read" on them if they are finished, but still, it is much nicer to have the fresh ones that have never been opened right on the ready line.
Have eaten frozen meals today instead of cooking. And have food cooked in the fridge to eat. Just don't want to prepare anything for myself. Lazy ol' woman. Maybe tomorrow. Have to think about what would be good to go with cooked roast. Thinking is the hard part.
Have decided that ALL clothes--with the possible exception of bras, panties, and socks--should have pockets. Have a pair of sweats on right now that have NO pockets! Stupid. Just inordinately inappropriate for clothing styles. Everyone needs a pocket on shirts and pants! We carry knives, phones, hankies, and assorted shtuff that needs to go in a pocket! Think maybe sewing pockets on my sweats might be a project. Don't really care if it is beautiful as long as it works for what is needed to be carried! It might be fun to make chicken pockets on my sweat top and a holster on my sweat pants. Hmm. See, thinking about putting on pockets is much more productive than thinking about cooking. Just goes to show what is more important.
Will see what my girls think about their new roosting arrangement tonight. Chickens are really not too fond of changes, but that is how things have always been around this place. Lewis told one of the men at work one time that if he worked the "can 'til can't" shift at work that he had to turn the lights on when he came home so he would not fall over the furniture. Back then it was not uncommon for me to move everything once a week when cleaning. Not quite that way any more, but close.
Don't know anything much worth talking about. Still read Tara Ross posts and comments on my blog. But everything else is pretty much lightly perused. Not getting into politics if possible. Just too distressing. My nephew Danny Pollard posted a piece about being as respectful of the new president as everyone was of President Trump. Kinda funny when it is considered. And they STILL want to be tacky. Anything said now is beyond unnecessary either way. This is where 100% of the nation thinks that 50% of the folks have lost their minds. So it will be.
May you all stay well and find peace in your lives. We are all so very blessed by God. You are loved.
